Um, this was a Lady Vols post, so I'm assuming the OP is talking about Baylor's women
No offense bro ... I was worried about griner rebounding us to death after watching us get pushed around .. We could get destroyed or pull off a close one ... Who knows? I am not familiar with the rotating assistants policy
Why?:hi:
Where do I start I know its 2011 and things have changed but this is still the Bible belt and although morals may appear to have changed, there really just below the surface
In my opinion if she were already on board and coaching nothing would be said or done (publically at least) but given the conservative nature of the powers that be (direct and indirect), IE government, Board, big donors and the fact that this can be held against her in complete anonymity makes it easy to do so without any fear of retribution of any sort
Couple that with an administration thats doesnt have the juice to step up and do something bold new and unproven if you had an Andy Holt or Joe Johnson in office, it could be done but not the current leadership and I dont know the character or conviction of these people but I doubt many would risk a career for a womens basketball coach
Pat is still the best coach in the business. Our problem is not our coaches. Our problem at Virginia was that our players did not go to play hard. They made stupid turnovers and thought they could waltz through the game; turn it on at the end; and win.
They did waltz through the game to the end, but they never turned it on.
Ariel is going to be a great player, but she played like a nervous freshman in that game; shooting wild; and fouled out. Simmons has great talent, but she still has that tendency to go wild and start throwing up shots with little chance of hitting them. Spani was the only player we had who actually came to play.
We have the talent to win a NC, but they better get it together and start playing for 40 minutes. Even with our talent, 20 minutes or less of effort will not make it in 40 minute games.
