(Current Top 25 has UNC in there)

VS top 25
Baylor’s record 4-3
Tennessee’s record 6-5

Last ten games record
Baylor 7-3
Tennessee 9-1

Forget Lunardi he has absolutely no say in what the selection committee does. Down the stretch an argument can be made that we deserve to be considered for a 1 seed if we win tomorrow.

Unfortunately, I think we needed someone like Kansas or Villanova to have lost to had a shot at a 1. But I don't see why we shouldn't be a 2. All these "bracketology experts" have us as a 3, but we were #8 in the NET rankings before today. A win against Kentucky only helps that. We have several marquee wins. And if we do win the SEC tourney, it undercuts the only argument against us: our 'away-from-home' record.

Also feels like everyone is overrating the Big 10 as usual. The computer polls don't like the Big 10 anywhere near as much as the media does.

I’d be fine with Nova getting the last 1 seed, but I’ll be pissed if they give it to Baylor

Really?

I don't think there's any clear #1 team this year and there's probably a good 15 teams that can win it, but I'd pick Baylor as the favorite. JMO.

If I picked, I'd probably go:

1: Gonzaga, Arizona, Baylor, Kansas
2: Villanova, Tennessee, Kentucky, Auburn
3: Texas Tech, Houston, UCLA, Duke

If the selection committee gives it to Baylor then they are saying the conference tournament doesn’t matter

You would put Huston as a 2 seed?

I feel they would be lucky to get a 4 seed.

1-4 Q1

I can’t imagine any team with a 3 seed or higher with only 1 Q1 win.

Not really. Baylor's resume is strong enough for a 1. Not that uncommon for 1 seeds to lose their conference tourney. They lost to a desperate Oklahoma team that had to win to even have a shot.

Definitely not uncommon but most years there is usually 1 or 2 conferences that are far and away the best which lend credence to giving those teams a better seed based of strength of schedule. This year you can make a case for the SEC, Big 12, Big 10, or even the Big East as having the best conference so the parity is unparalleled this year

Yeah you're probably right. The computer polls love them, but 1-4 against Q1 probably moves them down to 3 or 4.

I do think the case for them is that most of those losses came early season. And most of those losses were close games, but you're right ... probably should be down a bit.

Baylor has looked like a clear 1 seed most of the back half of the season, and it's difficult to hold a conference tourney loss against a desperate Oklahoma team against them. Conference tourneys are weird; some teams view them as life-or-death and other teams are resting players and not too worried about them.

And just looking at the data side, Baylor is pretty clear #3 behind Gonzaga and Arizona. Both Massey and Sagarin have them as #3. The NCAA's NET ratings have them as #5, but that's below Houston and Kentucky (who will probably move down after today).

To me, the only real question is that 4th 1-seed, but Kansas and 'Nova both winning today probably shut us out, unfortunately.

Houston will not be in the top 3 seed lines. I think you forgot about Purdue.

1. Gonzaga, Arizona, Kansas, Baylor
2. Villanova, Tennessee*, Kentucky, Purdue*
3. Auburn, Duke, Texas Tech, UCLA

I know the committee might not jump a bunch of teams around just from conference tournament play but this is close to what I’d go with. You could switch Purdue, Auburn, and Duke around. I see them 3 being close. Wish I knew ahead of time if the committee has us slotted at that #8 overall seed so I’d know what I want to root for. I really don’t want to be sent out West.
