First off, Ramar Smith has now signed his LOI to play for the Tennessee Vols. Also, there seems to be a lot of optimism going around about Smith in regards to him qualifying.

Jerry Meyer was interviewed be a paper in lexington earlier today and said that Tennessee is leading the way on the recruiting trail in the SEC. He says that Tennessee will be in the Top 5 and could see them at #3 behind Ohio State and UNC in the rankings. He went on to say there is a "good chance" that Duke Crews, Ramar Smith, and Wayne Chism will all be "low" 5* players in Rival.com's final rankings. Crews and Smith already had 5* ratings, and apparently Chism has impressed enough to make the jump to 5* status as well.

Its amazing to think where the basketball program was at just a very short time ago. Coming off a year in which we failed to qualify for the NIT and lossed arguably our two best players(All-SEC Scooter McFadgon and our best post player, Brandon Crump), Pearl was able to take a less talented team full of players that had been "losers" on the court their entire careers and take them to the, to the Round of 32 in the NCAAT. in Pearl's first real recruiting class, Pearl has signed what some consider to be the #3 overall class in the country. Attendance was in the Top 5 in the country I believe. We will groundbreak on a new $20 million dollar basketball practice/training facility later this summer, etc.

There will one day be a statue of Coach Pearl out side of TBA.....lol.......I'm kidding...........sort of....lol.

Coach Pearl continues to amaze me. He is a great coach, recruiter and marketer along with just being a quality person with a good sense of humor..

Pearl talking about his final four guest analyst experience...
"You can't put a price tag on what that (ESPN) thing was worth," Pearl said. "And I was shameless at the Final Four. I got my face on every TV station, got on every radio station. I did every interview I could, knowing that it's going to get us in the door (with recruits)."
