I never had it grilled. Tenderize and rolled in seasoned flour and deep fried. I gave a lot of it away in the early 90's when we would tailgate on the strip at First TN Bank parking lot.

Yeah do everything to fry it as to hide that rubbery bland taste.....

Had some fried gator bites at a restaurant in Myrtle Beach years ago. Not bad.

Same. I tried them as a kid at the beach. I remember it tasting just like chicken but after a few of them I started getting a rubbery taste and feel. Was weird. Haven't eaten it since.

We gonna smoke the gators tonight but give me some grilled shrimp anyday.

Buddy of mine that worked in a restaurant gave me the recipe. Tenderize is done with a hammer or stick and you beat the he@# out of it and soak it in buttermilk overnight.

Ever attempt conch?
Exact consistency as a rubber eraser.

Schnitzel!! Yeah that is kind of what I imagined. I had it a few times at home game tailgates. Rubber eraser is not too far off what I imagined and a perfect illustration! 🤣
