We may try to open the game up with the run. It may work - it may not. The screen will probably come into play. But I think our receivers are gonna eat the Arkansas secondary alive. The loss of Grant could be a big factor in the game.
Thoughts?

if i were tenn, i wouldn't fool with trying to run the ball early. go with the pass and make us stop it.

our secondary is not that bad. so far this year we've run alot of man coverage.

if we overdo the lb blitzes, then your slants may do some damage.

i'd stay in the air if i were you. if we don't adjust our defense to your formations, then you'll do some damage. if herring reacts correctly, then you may be forced to go to the ground.

Just throw it deep and then hit the slant...that is your keys to victory.

Meachem is a beast. Crompton wasn't hesitant to throw it deep to Meachem because he knows that Meach is going to get it most of the time. I think we'll see a good deal of that Saturday..

I just wonder how effective/how much playing time Coker will get? Probably eb too much to ask him to be full strength this soon, but he can bring a lot even if he plays sparingly.

Probably... work Coker back in here and there.

Think he'll return any kicks?

Jones and McFadden return kicks for us...you better pray you kick them all out of the endzone. :)

Wilhoit can do that... or just kick it in the corner. That's worked out pretty well lately.

Yeah we use two different kickers. If the game comes down to a a last second field goal that we have to make to win...you guys should feel comfortable because there is a real good chance that we will miss.

That Arkansas punter cracks me up.

me too. at first i was a bit embarrassed by it. but, it grew on me. now i look forward to it, as much as one can when punting.

but the thing is, he's probably one of the best punters we've ever had. he can drop it inside the 20 unlike any we've ever had.

He leads the SEC in punts inside the 20.

What is it that in the last 3 or 4 years there is suddenly a shortage of guys who can kick a high spiral and everybody is going to these goofy punt formations?

What's his average per punt? I know that can be skewed by a good ability of dropping it inside the 20, but Colquitt can really boom'em.

I think his average is low 30's.

There is no way his average is that low. I thought i remember seeing it 39.1 or something average.
I think the game is going to come down to if we can stop the pass or not. We dont have a chance unless we run zone coverage. Hopefully reggie herring has learned from south carolina that you can't run man coverage on every play.

I hope he hasn't learned. :whistling:

Well at last weeks game on usc's last drive, we finally used zone coverage on their last two plays. On the next to last play we tipped the ball. (zone cover player tipped it). On their last play we intercepted it.(zone cover player) I hope reggie herring doesn't ignore this! You can't run man on man 90% of the game agains't tenn.

You may be a little disappointed. I just read an article on a Tennessee site and Herring isn't going more zone:

Herring scoffed at the idea that Arkansas needs to play more zone rather than matching up cornerbacks Houston and Matterral Richardson against Tennessee wideouts Bret Smith of Warren and Robert Meachem.

"The two deep-ball touchdowns (against Alabama and Auburn) we've given up this year, we were in two-deep zone," Herring said. "We're an aggressive, safe, calculating (man) team but we make them earn their (plays). There's nothing easy. And if you ask any offensive coordinator who's gone against us, I promise you they'd rather see us in a soft zone all day where they can throw short and catch and get some stats."

and...

"We're going to play a lot of man-to-man," Houston said. "It's a special opportunity knowing that you can take this man out of the equation."

i noticed that this year. there's been a lot of so-called "rugby" punters. they catch the ball, run like hell to the side for about 5 yards, then punt, and the kich is usually low and short.

hell, someone did that against us in their own end zone.

looks like a train wreck in the making to me. when it works, what exactly does it do?
