It appears that all the TV ratings for the BCS Bowls were down, including the BCS Championship game which had its lowest ratings ever. Many complain that it is because of the pairing, a rematch of Alabama and LSU. Many believe it's just a backlash against the SEC. My belief is that the biggest problem was the way that ESPN doled out the bowl games over a long period of time. I really missed the traditional New Years day line up and I think the bowl games night after night caused viewer burnout even among the hard core college football fan.

Or maybe that's what they get for putting the game on cable. Believe it or not, there are still lots of folks out there who don't have it. Do you think the NFL would ever put the Super Bowl on cable?? Didn't think so.

My viewing was definitely down this year. The reason for me was the match ups. Most, to me, were just ridiculous.

Ratings would be much better for a playoff format.

How difficult is this to understand?

I think it's bowl fatigue. They've got to find a way to get the NC game in before the NFL playoffs start.

I'd like to see the ratings outside of the South. I'd venture to guess that most people outside of the SEC didn't care about a rematch in the title game and the ratings reflected that. Hell, 4 AP voters voted for Ok St out of spite and 1 voted for LSU.
