Anyone notice that Oregon passed up Arkansas in the BCS rankings this week? I found that pretty odd considering Arkansas handed it to the #9 Gamecocks this week while Oregon blew out an unranked Washington team. Not real sure how they passed up Arkansas in both polls after that ...

After a bit of reading, the justification came from the fact that Arkansas' only loss came by #3 Alabama while Oregons' came by #1 LSU. That actually made a little bit of sense until you look above both Arkansas and Oregon and see Oklahoma who's only loss came by an unranked Texas Tech team with 4 losses to their season.

To me, this just shows that the BCS rankings can be manipulated. There was no reason for the talented Arkansas team to drop this week. Even though I hate the Razorbacks, even I can see the politics in action here. Playoff system please!

Just wait until Stanford loses this weekend, OSU loses to OU, and LSU loses in the SECC.

And Boise State still doesn't get in.

120 Teams. 12 "Prioritized" Conferences. 9 Game Round-Robin Regular Season w/in the Conference. 16 Team Playoff. Annual relegation.

For whatever reason, the computers regard the Big 12 to be the strongest conference this year. I suspect that is why a one loss Oklahoma is above both Oregon and Arkansas. I haven't looked at the human polls, though. Is Oklahoma above both in those? If so, I would think that would have a lot to do with where they started.

Yeah, but what ever happened to the lose early in the season and you have a better shot of working your way back up. Oregon lost to LSU in week 1. There is no reason they should have dropped farther than Oklahoma did after their loss to Tech. The BCS is easily manipulated by ranking certain teams higher in the polls. It seems to me that if they can't have 2 undefeateds in there, then they have an idea of who they want to attemp to put in. Shady crap if you ask me.

That's kinda how I run my NCAA 12 dynasties: 5 pairs of 2 conferences, military schools are independent, C-USA is a catch-all. No divisions, and one-team swap relegation.

A suggestion to disband the SEC is not going to gain much traction around here.

Unfortunately, due to the money involved in all the conferences, my suggestion would never gain any traction. It would certainly lead to extremely exciting regular seasons, a great playoff system, and a pretty much undisputed National Champion.

Arkansas needs at least four teams to lose a game before they're in the BCS conversation.

Why should we care that Oregon jumped them with three weeks left in the regular season?
