FLASHBACK: Obama: Adding $4 Trillion To Debt Is Unpatriotic | RealClearPolitics

Candidate Obama: "The problem is, is that the way Bush has done it over the last eight years is to take out a credit card from the Bank of China in the name of our children, driving up our national debt from $5 trillion for the first 42 presidents - #43 added $4 trillion by his lonesome, so that we now have over $9 trillion of debt that we are going to have to pay back -- $30,000 for every man, woman and child. That's irresponsible. It's unpatriotic." (July 3, 2008)

Not sure what you expect me to say.

Can't think of anyone who says that increasing the debt is a really good thing.

On the flip side, sometimes you have to do that which in the long term is bad in order to deal with a short term crisis.

I'm sure that was Bush's reasoning when Obama was criticizing his "unpatriotic" spending.

sort of like burning your house down over a termite infestation?

You don't find at least some sense of irony in candidate Obama calling the accumulation of debt under Bush "unpatriotic" given that Obama the President has accumulated an equal amount of debt in less than half the time?

Irony? Not really.

Hypocrisy? sure.

Find me a POTUS since the Industrial Revolution that didn't at some point do the opposite of what he said on a particular subject and I'll wash your car.

I've got to say i'm a little dissapointed, LG. you are supposed to lead with "Obama inherited Bushs' mess" and finish up with "the stimulus just wasn't big enough" . That is your sides talking points, didn't you get this months newsletter?

Wait a minute. You are the hypocrisy police. Afterall, that's why the outed Puerto Rican was a worthy story - hypocrisy.

Now when its your guy hypocrisy is no big deal and not worth commenting on.

That sounds like something. I know it starts with an "h" but I just can't think of the word.
