The 1980-81 Indiana Hoosiers Men's basketball team started the season with a record of 10-7, including a loss to Texas- Rio Grande Valley. They finished the season 16-2 with Bobby's 2nd national championship. Be Patient.

And that season is noteworthy, much like the LVs improbable championship run in 1996–1997, because they are so RARE. Most teams that start out with mediocre records, exit early from post season tournaments (if they manage to slip in).

Of course it is possible that things could dramatically turn around for the LVs (it ain't over till its over). However, this team does not look much better or more consistent than it did in November. As the announcers rightly said last night, they are searching for an identity, among other problems.

That lack of improvement is worrisome.

Unfortunately, it is hard to look at the season so far and its trajectory and see much cause for optimism. The team has shown that they can produce a solid performance -- such as the victories of OSU and Mizzou--but these games seem more like one off exceptions than a reflection of the teams night-in and night out quality.

OP somehow equates a situation with a men's team at Indiana 35 years ago to a women's team at Tennessee now. OK.

Twilight Zone.

Fun fact: over 95pct of teams that start 10-7 don't win national titles. Be realistic.
