Beanie Wells now Doubtful for Saturdays game.

OSU would be stupid to play Wells.

USC is going to beat them like rented mules with or without Wells. Without him, they'll have the "but, but, but we didn't have Beanie" argument to help them get to the national title game, since they'll have no other losses.

I can almost guarantee he won't be seeing the field.

Beanie will play, Tressel just wants to make Carrol prepare his team as if Beanie wont play but Carrol is too smart for this crap

A loss to USC won't be the end of their hope to win a championship. An injured Wells could very well mean at least another loss or two. I think he sits out and they try to work him back in slowly.

so you think that Carroll would prepare differently if he knew Beanie were going to be out.

What would he do? Assume OSU would play without a tailback? Maybe go to the Run & Shoot with Boeckman slinging it? Maybe play a freshman QB all day from the shotgun?

I was just going to say that. Let's say OSU loses by like 7-10 points and then runs the table in the big-10. now they have a valid excuse to get into NC game.

let's hope tressell is sandbagging.

I love this talk about playing pryor. If OSU has to resort to playing a true freshman qb against hte best defense in the country, they will lose by 3 tds. Take a look at pryor's high school tapes, he was never an elite passer. You don't think SC lbs can stop him running every down?

I would argue that OSU's only chance is to play Prior the whole game.

no way. he's not ready for going to LA.

tebow was far more polished out of high school and there is no way he would have seen significant minutes against USC in his first road game ever.

He's a TRUE freshman. OSU has no margin for error and pryor is going to be error central.

Look at his passing stats and rushing stats in HS. I was saying this about 7-8 months ago. He has work to do in the passing game.

How much did VY throw for in the title game a few years ago? If they have to rely on Boeckman or Pryor throwing the ball OSU's slim chances go down even more.

I think they need to play Pryor to give USC different looks all game. They know Boeckman is only going to throw it and it's not like he's that great of a QB anyway so he is very limited. He is not used to the speed USC is going to throw at him. Pryor probably isn't either but he is more equipped to deal with defensive lineman and linebackers running at him and would be able to react by taking off running where as Boeckman has no chance of that.

I am 100% sure I am spelling Boeckman wrong.

Young was a junior in his 3rd year in the system and the guy was completing like 70% of his passes. And that SC defense was pretty bad. This one has a far better secondary and linebacking core.

I do not disagree with you. I do not think they need to use Pryor if they think they are going to have to beat USC throwing the ball. If they do, they have absolutely no shot. No matter who they play.

Unless USC lays a total egg, they will beat the hell out of Tressel's boys.

I think you're right. I think OSU needs play ball control to keep it close. They need to use Pryor throwing and running so they are not so one dimensional.

In my opinion Boeckman is going to need to throw for them to win. SC is going to load up against the run.

Really? If that's the case OSU really has no shot. No way they can keep up with USC in a shootout.

It doesn't have to be a shoot out. The key to passing against SC in the past has been short 5-10 yard passes with the occasional downfield bomb.
