At the risk of getting the Bammer sharks that surf this board too emotional, I will suggest that there are similarities in Fulmer's situation to a former sucessful SEC coach.

In 1970 when I was a student at UT, we beat Bama and the Bear 24-0 in K'towm for the fourth year in a row. Tom Siler, the sports editor for the Knoxville NewsSentinel, wrote in his editorial that Bear was finished, too old and the game had passed him by. Of course Bear the following year went to the Wishbone and the rest is history.

I am not suggesting PF is a BB but I think he will have to make major changes in the UT program and not a BandAid. Otherwise in 1-3 years he will be forced to leave, deservedly.

Your parallel is actually apt. While Fulmer is no "Bear", in 1970 it was a crappy year. The wishbone offense was installed and as you put it the rest became history.

Phil will need to make some radical changes or you could be right. As I have mentioned, his record speaks for itself, but lose enough games and the powers that be conveniently forget the records.

I just hope you guys do not jump the gun like Texas A&M did in getting rid of R.C. Slocumb, and saddle yourselfs with a dork like fRan.

I have said it before, Fulmer will get it right, this season is obviously a coaching meltdown. It happens.

I am a bit rare on TideFans.com as I put the blame on Coach Dumbose. Fulmer, Spurrier, Sherrill simply blew the whistle, Dumbose and Logan Young are the ones who screwed us. (Dumbose for being dumb, and Young for having more money than he had sense)

Good parallel, Bear changed to the wishbone. We need a similar change.
