Bears just traded for Cutler

They finally get the quarterback, question is did they miss that window of opportunity with having the dominate D taking more of a downturn.

Allow me to look in my crystal ball and guess that bburger991 did not think it was a good trade for the Bears.

The Broncos now have the 12th pick ,if everything shakes out to script you would have to say they will draft Sanchez so as is most trades we wont know who "won" till a few years down the line. At least the Broncos got Tom Green in the trade.

huh, interesting. I really thought when they were saying the whole "2 first round picks" part, they were trying to pull in the Lions....

It's weird to guess how this will go, but qb has certainly been the bears weak point the last few years. There are issues all over the offensive side of the ball with them, but you have to wonder if some or most of it wasn't b/c of starting Grossman or Orton at QB...

Could be a great thing for them though, I didn't pay too much attention to them last year, but from the one game I did watch, their defense played a great game against the Titans (i think actually grossman lost them that game....and I also knew he overthrew a pretty open devin hester on one play)

I don't think the defense is as dominant as it was in 06 where they could go to a Super Bowl with lousy qb play, but I kinda think that it's still good enough that having a better qb and getting production on the offensive side on the ball can put them right back in it this next year. could be a big turnaround for them

How do ya'll think this will turn out for Culter?

Chitown loves or hates there QB. He better be ready and have someone to block for him or he might regret opening his mouth.

Denver made out like a bandit with this trade. McDaniels might be able to get something out of Sims or Orton. He sure worked some magic with Cassel last season.
I think they should use first round picks on defense this year. Then they can grab someone like Harrell or Davis for QB in the 3rd.

cutler has proved over the past month taht he doesn't have what it takes mentally to be a sold NFL qb.

He just got sold for a heck of a price. You can't say that he doesn't have what it takes to be a sold NFL QB when he just got all he did for the Broncos.
I wonder what a QB like Peyton would sell for if Cutler can get two firsts and a third.

To a team that just lost both tackles and has NO good WR. Looks like they could have kept those drafts pics and Orton and been better off.

Right. That's my point. The Bears are the ones who paid too high of a price here.
That's why I was questioning the guy who thought Cutler wasn't worthy of being sold. He WAS sold, and the Broncos got more than they should have gotten.

better off long term yeah, could possibly still have short term inpact though. Bears seem to like to take a similar route to the titans: have a competant QB who won't make mistakes and let the defense take care of the rest

If defensive pieces are still in place, cutler is a whole lot more competant than the orton/grossman combination

I think he meant "solid."

I'll give Cutler a pass because I do believe that the Bronco's coach and GM were both totally off-base with their approach from the get-go. He's already proven that he's a solid QB.
