Lol you can say that now cause y’all have had the best of us. But in the next 3 years your gonna be crying about Mullen always chocking to a team he shouldn’t and never winning anything that actually matters. We will be in the playoffs

You entertain me.

Say something stupid again so I can be entertained some more.

Thanks for saying something stupid again.
Go back to your trailer in the swamp. I’m sure McDonald’s is getting pissed with how much you use their WiFi. It’s not stupid. Y’all will never win anything significant with Mullen. You will in fact watch Pruitt do great things, then I hope you’ll own up to the fact your wrong.

You mean the same Pruitt who allowed Clemson to score the game winning TD in the '16 title game or the same Pruitt who allowed UT to come back vs UGA in '15?

I like Pruitt but he isn't the defensive genius we want him to be...plus Auburn simply scored too fast in the BCS title game in '13.

maybe he has learned some things and applied them in the last 3 years....what a concept for a football coach, huh?

Bama misses a handful defensive players lost to injury this season.
Yes they do. But as the years pass, there is no asterisk by the score saying who was not playing because of injury or targeting. All that is noted is “LSU was better than Alabama in 2019”.

My point was Bama struggled on defense because of missing personnel, not because Pruitt is no longer their DC as another poster suggested.

Not taking anything away from LSU.

Gotcha. Tennessee had 12 men on the field last night at a very critical juncture in the game. Half the distance to the goal on Kentucky’s final drive. Alabama had 12 men on the field and it negated a big interception.
In both cases it was mentioned (by Gary Danielson (CBS) and Tim Priest (Vol Network) “ how can you make that mistake coming onto the field after a timeout?”

Good lord, pump the brakes dude. The same stuff was said towards UF when Kiffin, Dooley, and Jones were here. Sure I get it...THIS time it’s for reals.

We have a long ways to go before we start talking playoffs.

Dear lord
Don’t think that’s overdrawn. He’s young as a coach for sure. But don’t tell me he’s not a football genius. Don’t think anyone else we would’ve got would have had his success so far. Ya Ga State, BYU, and some other flaws. But we beat Auburn his first year and he still has an opportunity to win more in the SEC then he’s lost. We’re slowly coming around and learning to win
Football genius...come on, you can't mean that. The wins coming now are more the result of the crummy teams UT is playing more than anything.

Crummy teams! Yes SC is playing horrid rn. But you can’t say Auburn was a fluke, and SC beat the Dogs this year. Ky almost beat Florida, and Miss State was still supposed to be more talented then us! Got to give him credit. It looked like we were gonna be 2-10 at best and he’s kept his players bought in. That to me is impressive. You can also look at Bamas defense stats since he’s left and decide for yourself if they miss him. You can always say “but those players are gone.” Since when was Alabama not loaded with D talent in the Saban era.

Its pretty rich to talk that way considering we are just excited to probably be bowl eligible this year.

Lets focus on Tennessee winning games and doing something significant, then we can trash talk Florida. Because where I'm sitting, they sure are in a better spot than we are right now.

I fee we are much closer then the game shows. It’s like we are intimidated or something against them. If we would’ve played the way we did against Bama against Fla then we win no problem. Pruitt is teaching them how to believe they can win, and IMO next year we will see that on the field. Your right, with what’s happened it’s definitely rich and we are excited about getting to a bowl. But who thought that was even a possibility after our 1-4 start?

That right there is why we have no right to smack talk Florida right now. We are certainly doing better and I am quite happy with our progress this season and optimistic about the future. But I am far from certain we are going to be where we want to be any time soon. I've been on this carousel for far too long to just assume we will have success and Florida won't. I lived it. I was a student during Fulmer's final year, living on campus the night Kiffin left, I went to the basketball game the day they had Dooley introduced to the fans.

What I'm saying is, we can't know the future. When Dooley was our head coach we all supported him because we were desperate for him to succeed after being trashed by Kiffin. When Butch was our head coach we wanted him to succeed because his predecessor was so unbelievably bad. WE were sorely disappointed in those times.

Pruitt has certainly done something neither Dooley or Butch did, he took a team that was playing absolutely abysmally, made adjustments and changed the course of the season. That is great to see and a good reason to be hopeful he knows what he is doing and can finally get us out the rutt we have been in.

But until we actually see more results than barely getting into a bowl game, then we need to focus on winning and less talk of how bad the other SEC teams are going to be.

Like it or not, Clemson is a very good team, and likely will be for years. Their wins over Bama reflect that. Their defense is Top 10 again, despite losing all of those NFL players after last season. That is no reflection on Pruitt's defenses at Bama.

Saban admitted that their first win over Clemson wouldn't have happened without the successful inside kick. He, Kirby, and Kiffin agreed at halftime that they would lose that game unless they could steal a possession. Saban's quote "We couldn't stop Deshaun Watson".

My opinion - the jury is out in Pruitt as a HC but there are certainly some positive signs since the Florida game this year. He is motivating the Vols to win however they can. That is a recipe for the Vols being competitive by at least 2021.

Auburn was last year so I have no idea what they have to do with this year.

SC beat UGA sure....and will end up 4-8. A fluke is a fluke. Who the hell though Miss St. was more talented than us? This place was arguing we had more talent than UF before Georgia St. happened. And it doesn't matter what they were "supposed" to be, they're going to end up 5-7. And great UK almost beat UF, they're also at best going to be 7-5. I don't think anyone thinks they are a great team by any means.

The problem with guys like you is take what is happened and go way too far with the proclamation that we're going to be in the playoffs and trash talking other programs ahead of us. Then you try to make people who argue against you out to be "nega Vols" and on top of that now you're moving the goal posts. Nobody is saying he hasn't turned things around and should get credit; but that's a far cry from acting like we're going to be a playoff team any time soon. Pruitt has much, much more to prove that we're headed that way.

Good. I’m sure you’ll never let any of us down with your constant trolling. You’ll be here this year, then next year and have some excuse why were all the sudden beating you guys.

Your takes and thread starts are among the dumbest I've read on any message board, but I appreciate your passion for all things Tennessee....objectivity be damned.

If Tennessee beats Florida next year...or any year for that matter...I will give credit where credit is due.

Genius seems a bit much. Pruitt has been described by many other coaches and players as a Defensive Guru but I want to be careful before we put him in the same pantheon as Belichick. When he was hired, there was little question that he was one of the top 5 (mayyyyyybe top 3) DCs in the country. Is that a football genius? maybe.

What does seem clear is that whether Pruitt is a personal football genius or not, he is hellbent on establishing an elite program here at UT that will do all the genius level work to chase championships. I think his goal is to be Saban 2.0 rather than a Rich Rod kind of guy.
