Is anyone really suprised that we lost last night?

...seriously. The odds were stacked against us last night. Our leaky defense going against a team that has been on a hell of a roll lately. A backup, freshman redshirt QB who's only had 3 quarters of actual SEC play that is expected to win a game on the road with a one dimensional offense.

None of us are happy about what happened last night but don't slit your wrists or anything. This is still our team and we'll get another crack at em next year.

Arky won the game...but we'll always have Clint Stoener. :peace2:

i wasn't expecting a win exactly, but I was expecting a game, not an annihilation

It's not that we lost, it that we didn't even compete in this game AT ALL.

No motivation, no preparation, thats why there is a up roar in the Volnation.

Truth.

I was hoping for a game, but I was very concerned about Crompton. I felt like they were going to put up the points and we were going to have to match them. Now, I don't know, because sometimes it's hard to discern wheter the D you are playing is causing the problems or whether your QB is not checking off / delaying too much, etc (when you are watching on the television). But, I felt like with Ainge we might be able to put up the points to match them. Crompton's start really worried me and it turned out that way. But, even if it was his bad play, I'm not going to get too bent out of shape about it...he is SOOO young..and was on the road against some very hungry players/fans.

I'm glad it wasn't worse.

Our offense is our strength this year. That's canceled out with crompton getting the start. I don't care how good he may be in the future. Right now he is a backup and he has things to learn and experience before he can lead this team in that kind of situation.

And our Defense hasn't exactly been stellar outside of a few individuals, this year.

I knew if they got their run game going at full steam, we were going to be in for a long night.

I still think that the points I made before the game stand. I think that the players believe they can win when Ainge is slinging the ball. I don't think they have that confidence at all with Crompton and I don't think they were playing to win.

I agree with about 90% of that.....Last night they just looked like they didn't want it....Against LSU they looked like they wanted it because they still had something to play for....I truly think that our players think that since they got beat by LSU last weekend that our boys thought we had no reason to come out and play that we had nothing to play for....That's JMO though

if you can't get your boys up for a Capital One Bowl berth (and possibly back in the BCS mix the way everyone was dropping yesterday) something's wrong w/ the coaches

I mean if I was a wide reciever and I didn't have confidence that.

1. My QB didn't have the skills
2. The o line can't hold long enough.

Me busting my balls to get open, would get very old in the last of the 3rd quarter. Thats just me. I'd never be a WR, no way I'm just a average heighted white dude, thats faster than average for his size.

I agree but because we come out flat for one game out of the 3 that we lost don't necessarily mean we need to take drastic actions and fire our entire coaching staff like some people on here want does is? No, not IMO....Yeah last night could have went a little better and maybe even a little different if we had Ainge, but Arkansas played VERY well last night and I still think with Ainge we wouldn't have won last night because we had no answer for McFadden

That's another trend we've seen the last several years isn't it? We could very well end up at 7-6 this year.

i expect ainge will be back this week, all the vol fans need to get up for vandy, no repeat from last year, lets finish out with 2 w's and see what bowl we go to. this season has been a major improvement from last year, we have only been out of one game, ARK., the rest was a play here a play there??? i still like this club and i like crompton too. he was in a tough position against a very good team last night and last week. go vols, 10-3 still a strong possibility.

I wouldn't go that far but yeah(7-6) but yes, it's a trend we've seen through the years and it needs to be adresses but not by firing the coaches...I disagree with you saying we could end up 7-6.....I'm thinking we'll finish the season 9-3 and then end up 10-3 depending on who we play in the bowl game....
