Behind The Meyer Resignation

He should have stayed resigned after the '09 season.

It only took one recruiting cycle for FSU to catch and pass us.

I know my opinion does not matter much but I do believe after scam newton left with his tail between his legs Meyer wanted to quit because he knew he paid so much money for him and it went for nothing. I am not a Florida fan but I feel sorry for you guys when this comes out,.....tick...tock...tick...tock:loco:

No one's opinion on here matters much. Don't let that stop you from posting.

As bad as Fulmer was this past decade he still beat Zook 2 out of 3.

But Richt won 2 SEC titles during the Zook Error and Meyer's first year.

Fulmer didn't take advantage of Spurrier leaving like most thought he would.

I think Spurrier is what Fulmer needed to stay hungry. Once he left, maybe Fulmer got complacent and thought the SEC was his without effort. I think if Spurrier stayed we would have been better off.

Also, I think you are right about Urban. FSU is looking unstoppable right now. If they win the ACC and are in the title hunt it will only propel them to the next level.

looks like CUM is running for president. I have seen more of that SOB now than I ever did when he was coaching.
Me thinks he is doing some PR stuff to erase the last 18 months of 'coaching' from his resume' so when tOSU fire lee finkel hes got himself a job.

You'll be praying for Meyer to be back after Muschamp gets done Zooking the Gators for a few years.

I agree with LW...he should have stayed retired. I'm probably wrong, but if I was Ohio State, I wouldn't gamble on him being the coach he once was. Classic example of total burn-out. Shame, 'cause he was a hell of a coach and a great recruiter until he lost the edge.

Urban got to the pinnacle and his priorities changed. I said similar things about PF in the long ass other thread and the aftermath of his NC.
It's human nature.

That and tebow leaving, of course, helped.

He got to the pinnacle in 2006. I think losing his long time OC and Charlie Strong all at once when he was actually trying to scale back the time he spent coaching was the real problem. He was forced to either spend time doing something he said he wouldn't or let Addazzio sink the ship.

Sounds familiar, except he went ahead and quit, rather than dragging it out. He wouldn't have tried to scale back his coaching prior to an NC, but a NC changes the thought process.
