If this team gets used to winning the close games, it will actually help them down the road. If this team successfully overcomes the upcoming sanctions with Pearl not being on the bench for upcoming SEC games, it can actually help them down the road. If this team can somehow manage to block out everything going on around them, and the media circus it's attracted, they will be hard to beat when the SEC tournament and NCAA's arrive. Despite everything going right now with this team, I have a really good feeling about these young men and what they are going to accomplish this year.

Perhaps. Whole lot of "if's" going on....

No such thing IMO. Stats pretty much prove that if a game comes down to one possession, it's a toss-up, no matter the relative strength of the teams.

There's no such thing as "learning how to win close ones"--there's just luck.

I'd rather they learn how to blow everyone out by 20 points.

Winning close games is nice, if its against quality competition. Problem for UT is, having to win close games against inferior competition means that their team is learning bad, bad habits, which against a good team, will put you out of the game completely instead of giving you a chance to pull out a close game.

Yea, there's no silver lining to having to fight like Hell against a team that a good high school team could compete with.

I'm not looking forward to Kentucky just yet. I am focused on Friday's game at 2pm. I just hope that we have some energy and life in TBA. That place is a joke right now. I turned the game over last night at halftime and saw some of the Notre Dame game. That was place was so loud it was crazy. Then our game came back on and I could hear CBP throughout the entire second half. There is no reason that I should be able to hear anything except the fans. Come on VOLNATION!!!

For better or worse - the fans seem to derive their energy from the team and Coach Pearl. To say that there has been a lack of energy on their part the last two games would be an understatement imo. Everyone has appeared to be holding their collective breaths hoping we can squeeze by Belmont and UTM. I feel we got out-hustled by both those inferior teams. Our effort or lack there of doesn't excite me. I have seen tighter defense displayed on the outdoor courts by the PE bldg than that displayed against UTM.

Hopefully we will pick it up when the SEC season starts.

I agree with you on that. Our team needs to pick up the intensity and put out more effort. Especially on the boards. To get rebounded by that team is embarrassing. We can do better thatn that. I am happy that we won and didn't lose. A win is a win.

They're not playing smart and they look lazy at times. Pearl has a very deep bench and he keeps letting the lazy, not very smart guys play. This is on Bruce and yeah winning close ones against decent teams is fine. Struggling like they have against these last 4 opponents is on Bruce. Adjust your lineup, bench somebody, because what your doing isn't working. I think maybe Bruce being suspended will be a good thing. I'd hope Tony Jones isn't dumb enough to keep playing guys that are hurting the team or giving little effort. Bruce seems to be playing favorites or disinterested all together, i just can't figure out which one.

We will still beat kensucky haha

Dude the way we're playing it won't even be close. Terrence Jones, Knight, and Lamb aren't pansies and they'll drive the ball unlike us. We get the ball inside and pass out to shoot crazy 3s and miss. No effort

You're definitely misplaced. Go to the game you'll find out there ain't much to cheer for. There also weren't that many people there including the students and band. I know what you mean but it's totally different when watching on tv than being there

That's a lame excuse. Your friggn team is playin, that's PLENTY to cheer for. PPl who get quiet after a neg momentum swing have baffled me for years. That's the VERY time when fans should be the loudest, as its when our team neads a kick in the arse the most.

I do believe that Pearl not being there is going to be a good thing. Look what ahppened last year after New Years. This team seems to play better as a underdog than they do as the favorite and I do believe they are going to be an underdog in most of the games CBP will be out. Playing through adversity is a quality that this team has. It would have been real easy for this team just to lay down after they lost those games. I have seen it before. It is not like we were really "beat" by any of those teams. We are what 9 points away from being undefeated. I am actually looking forward to CBP departure. That will allow CBP to get an outside perspective and maybe get to see some of the things we are seeing. Please just lose faith in our vols. They are going to be all right.

I would love to be able to go to every game. I live too far away. And the games that I have got to go to I was up on my feet the whole time cheering. Whether we were playing bad or not, didin't matter to me. I was happy to be there. GO VOLS!!!

Now, this is what we need to be talking about and doing on these threads. Trying to find a way to get behind our team and lift them up and get others in the nation to stand up for the VOLS. Not talking about how we can't wait til CBP is gone and what coach we are getting next and how bad we suck and aren't going to win 20 games. Is this really how VOLNATION is? You have go to be kidding me. Before CBP got here I can remember getting ragged out walking around Louisville about how bad we are and never going to be anything. Now that we are it is great walking around here and rubbing it in their faces. GO VOLS!!!
