Last I heard Neuheisal (sp) was a lock for the UCLA job.....What changed? Bellotti would not work there, but whatever floats their boat....

I am for whoever will continue to run that program in the ground, at least for the next two season's anyway...

Rick is alum isnt he? Didn't he get in some trouble about 5 years back or so to?

yes he has very strong ties to UCLA. my guess though is that a lot of alums don't want him. UCLA likes to think of themselves as above others and they very much like to think they put academics above all else. Rick will win at all costs as he showed at UW and UC..

bellotti has only been as good as coordinators. he still hasn't won a bowl game since tedford left.

Not if the goal is to win football games.

rick will win more football games from year 1-3 true, but 4-10 you have a nice shot of being on probation.

bellotti won at oregon with far worse talent than he can recruit to UCLA (admitably though his best years came with some great assistant coaches). he's a safe (not great) hire for ucla. he'll win 8 or 9 games a year. he wont compete with pete though.

What did Rick ever do other than his little betting scandal?

USATODAY.com - Tracking Neuheisel's controversial coaching career

Feb. 3, 1999— Reports surface on national letter-of-intent signing day that Neuheisel is being investigated for improper visits to five recruits. It later is revealed that Neuheisel also made improper contact with several of his former Colorado players and engaged one UW recruit in a basketball-shooting contest, deemed an improper tryout by the NCAA.

June 19, 1999— Pac-10 accepts Washington's self-imposed penalties for two violations, including reducing Neuheisel's off-campus visits in 2000 from 29 to 9. UW also agrees not to accept any of Neuheisel's former Colorado players as transfers.

April 11, 2002— Colorado officials confirm the school has been accused by the NCAA of a lack of institutional control and multiple minor violations during time Neuheisel was coach.

Oct. 8, 2002— NCAA completes investigation into Neuheisel's tenure at Colorado and prohibits him from off-campus recruiting through May 31, 2003, as a penalty for his part in more than 50 minor violations.
NCAA places the Buffaloes on probation for two years, reduces the number of scholarships and restricts off-campus recruiting by Colorado coaches.

Feb. 11, 2003— After rumors that he interviewed with the San Francisco 49ers for their head coaching position the previous day, Neuheisel releases a statement denying he ever talked to the 49ers.

Feb. 12, 2003— After more reports that he talked to the 49ers, Neuheisel acknowledges interviewing with San Francisco officials, saying his initial denials were a "knee-jerk reaction" to protect a confidentiality agreement.

Werd. I don't like Belotti at all... IMO he's been exposed since Tedford left his staff. Complete a-hole as a recruiter, too. I have a number of friends from HS football around the area, who have heard his recruiting spiel and it goes something like "We are the Oregon Ducks, you're from Oregon, so you will play college football for me."

Everytime I hear it, I just get the "Are you kidding me?" look. :shakehead:

What does everybody think:

What is the better job? Oregon or UCLA

A slight edge to UCLA. At Oregon, you get connected with Nike and but live in the Pac Northwest, but have to recruit California.

UCLA is in one of the countries largest media markets (which would counter the association with Nike) and you live/recruit in Southern California.
