A few notes...

Both Andrew Lee and Jacob Westphal have pitched the same amount of SEC innings (11.2) and faced the same number of batters (41).

Lee's ERA is 4.63. Westphal's is 2.31.

Rosters are starting to develop in the summer leagues, what follows may or may not be accurate when all is said and done...

Cape Cod - Brewster Whitecaps
Nathaniel Maggio
Hunter Martin
Nick Senzel

Alaska - Anchorage Bucs
Aaron Soto
Brodie Leftridge

Alaska -Matsu Miners
Zach Warren

Northwoods - Wisconsin Woodchucks
Benito Santiago

New England - Valley Blue Sox
Eric Freeman

Hamptons - West Hampton Aviators
Richard Jackson
Quint Robinson

California - San Luis Obispo
Brett Langhorne

California - Southern California Catch
Jordan Rodgers

Coastal Plains - Gastonia Grizzlies
Garrett Davila

That's all I have for now, it will be interesting to see where Kyle Serrano and Jacob Westphal end up. I'd be pretty surprised if KS isn't on a Cape Cod roster and to be fair, not all of those rosters are complete.

Moving on to the scout. We beat Belmont once already this season, but since then they managed to beat Vandy...twice.

They are a pretty good hitting team, but pitching has been a bit of a problem as the season has worn on. They have one guy with an ERA below 4.00 and as a team their ERA is 4.78. In addition, everyone talks about how bad we've been in the field and I agree 55 errors is too many, but these guys..whew! 82 errors and a .954 FLD%.

We will face Dom Veltri (2-2) with an ERA of 6.67, he's been a midweek guy most of the season, 6 starts with 13 appearances. The guys ought to wear a little extra padding for this guy, in 28.1 IP he's hit a team high nine batters, he also has 7 wild pitches. Teams batt .333 versus Veltri. As a staff they have hit 54 opposing batters, exactly twice as many as our staff has.

For some reason we're going to roll KS out there to start for us...in a completely meaningless game. Maybe it's his day to throw, dunno. I'm hoping we get to see some of the young guys, pretty sure we will, CDS mentioned Freeman early in the week...

On paper, seems like it could be a high scoring game, but they've been able to figure out how to take care of Vandy so hopefully our guys don't over look them. in the grand scheme of things all that matters is our pitching being fresh and healthy for the weekend, so a victory would be nice, but we can't afford anymore injuries.

good stuff once again 66. Win or lose it really doesn't matter as it doesn't effect SEC standings and the win/loss record doesn't mean much at this point, I'd like to see a lot of guys play....

I imagine KS will 2 innings max (or pitch limit of 30 or so), pretty much a bullpen session.

I heard Zach Reid and Dominick Cammarata are also in the Coastal Plains League joining Davila. They are not showing on any roster as of yet, only half of the rosters have been published.

Yeah, it's still early...Maggio, for instance, is on two different rosters in different leagues so...take what I posted referencing summer ball with a grain of salt and thanks for the info on Reid and Camm, at least i know where to look.

Looks like it's going to be a bit more difficult to keep up with most of the players this summer.

Benito would benefit from summer league more than any UT position player I can recall.

It's also likely a good thing that he's not going to one of the older, high-pressure leagues.

He'll hit the upper Midwestern pitchers well and we get back a degree of confidence. I worry more about him transferring than I should.

Why would he transfer, he's got the job best I can tell?

Thats the way I see it...........he's gotten more playing time this year than he would have at any other SEC or ACC school and possibly several other conferences.

Because he's young
Talented
Had a disappointing year at plate and behind it
"may" blame the coaching staff or has someone in his ear blaming the staff
Because the weather stunk in late winter

I don't know, just a concern gnawing at me lately.

I don't think anyone was expecting much in terms of hitting. Behind the plate he's gotten much better over the course of the season, I'm actually very happy with the way he's played defensively his last few starts. I don't see how his season can be called disappointing.
