They return four starters and have some promising newcomers. Anyone seen what they've done in the pre-season? Their team report can be found here, but doesn't mention the pre season: Belmont Team Report - College Basketball - Rivals.com

"Lineup Breakdown: The Bruins have terrific depth and a good mix of players, which should allow them to mix and match with anyone in the conference. They can go small with three or even four-guard lineups, or go really big if 6-foot-11 freshman Chad Lang shows he can play. This could be the league’s deepest team."
Of course, they're talking about the Atlantic Sun conference, but they seem to be a pretty solid team each year.

Byrd isn't happy that he has to open the season against the Vols, but he'll have to deal with it. Should be interesting to see what he comes up with.

Git 'em, Bruce!

Belmont is a good team. If UT isn't ready, we will lose.

I watched the Don Meyer classic the other night and Belmont is a good team. It should be a good game, I'm just glad the Vols aren't playing Lipscomb.

i think if we can make enough 3s to make the defence respect us then we will have a shoot to win against anyone because we have always been good at driving the lane.

This aint the past and the A-Sun is not what it use to be. Anyone that was able to watch Lipscomb go into Chapel Hill the other night and give the tar heels a run for their money know what I'm talking about. Isn't Stetson from the A-Sun? I believe they knocked off Wake Forrest. We'll for sure have a fight on our hands. Ian Clark is a lights out shooter from the arc and they have the depth to throw a lot of different stuff at us. Don't we play them twice?

Thanks, Shaun, and yes we do - mid December, I think. Sounds like our perimeter D needs to be on spot.

yeah, this game worries me. this is the type of team that just gives us fits. very discipline well coached team. remind me of a smaller butler type of a team.

This game won't be a cakewalk. Byrd always has his teams prepared against big teams.

Yep...I remember them playing us tough in December 2003 that came down to the last couple of possessions. We thought it was a fluke until he took that team to Mizzou and beat them on their home floor when they were ranked #5

We have Lipscomb a week before our trip to Knoxville. Im not sure what to think about them just yet but I sure hope our youngsters arent looking over that game thinking about you all when it rolls around.
