1. Foster the People-Torches
2. Miles Kane - Colour of the Trap
3. Arctic Monkeys - Suck It and See
4. Washed Out - Within and Without

I don't have a fifth. I haven't been able to listen to some of the bands you listed, like Radiohead, yet. I'm kinda an old-school music lover so I don't listen to too much modern music. I thought 2009-2010 was a good year for music, but I wasn't blown away by 2011, TBH.

And if I hear another Adele song come on the radio, I will pull my hair out.

Yeah I'm with ya, 2011 was kinda a dud. The Bon Iver album and Fleet Foxes album are definitely worth a listen, especially if you like folk music. The new Radiohead album isn't as good as some of the other albums that have appeared, but it's still worth listening to.

I thought the Adele album was overplayed and overrated ha

Ugh. If I hear Adele...I swear every time I turned on some pop station they were playing it. Shame, because she is talented, but they just burned it into the ground. Fleet Foxes I have heard, just the one song "White Winter Hymnal" (I know, everybody has probably heard that one). I should get into them. I'm sort of stuck in the 1960's and 1970's. I think I was born in the wrong generation.

The Band Perry! I will count that as my #5. I have heard at least three of their songs on the radio and I want to get the album.

Father Son Holy Ghost - Girls

The King Is Dead - Decemberists

Portugal The Man - The Mountain in the Cloud

Icky Mettle (re-release) - Archers of Loaf

The Big Black and the Blue - First Aid Kit

These were the five I listened to most from this year, although the last one is from 2010. I also liked the new Ryan Adams more than most.

If you like the first three, then definitely check out the Head and the Heart's album. It is an amazing folk band. You won't be disappointed.

Their new album is a whole lot better than the older one, definitely check them out. There isn't that one monster hit on it like "White Winter Hymnal" was, but the album's song writing is much better all around.

Also, I know this was 2010, but I'd definitely put the Local Natives at the top. Their album was better than anything that came out this year.

I went out a bought Band Perry yesterday. I was surprised by how much I like it because I'm not a huge Country fan. I am currently in love with the song "Lasso." Real sweet song.

I like them but don't listen to them as much as I should. I do really like the one guy from Grizzly Bear's solo project sun kill moon.

I haven't heard it. I do know that Ed Droste's dad owns Hooters (random fact). They are just one of the few modern bands that I like. They did a cover of the Chrystals' "He Hit Me (And It Felt Like a Kiss)." Awesome cover.

One of the best debut albums to come out of Nashville in quite a while if you ask me.
