If we miss the playoffs the sugar bowl would be sweet

I did love the bowl game being in Nashville, but we have outgrown it.
I wish Nashville had a BIG bowl game.

As good as Tennessee is doing they should make a NY6 bowl at the very least. There are three options should this happen.

Sugar Bowl:This goes to the SEC champion should they not make the CFP. Otherwise it goes to the best team in the SEC. Unless LSU wins the SEC and misses the playoffs I think this is very likely. They would get the highest Big XII team not in the CFP which at the moment seems to be either Texas or TCU

Orange Bowl-The ACC has an automatic tie in to the game against either the ACC Champion or the highest ACC team. The opponent will be the second highest SEC or Big 10 team in the final CFP rankings. If for some reason Tennessee misses the Sugar Bowl they would almost certainly go here. I am using the AP poll but the next highest ranked team between the SEC and Big 10 is Ole Miss.

Cotton Bowl-There are no conference tie-ins to this game per se so it is going to the highest ranked program not in a NY6 game. The one catch is that since a group of five team is guaranteed to make a NY6 game and this is the only at large game whoever does play here will almost certainly get Tulane. That being said I don't think Tennessee will make this one. I think it will go to a PAC-12 team

The only way I see Tennessee missing out on a NY6 bowl is another loss. At that point I think the Citrus Bowl would certainly take them.

I believe the Sugar Bowl is an 11am start on NYE this year. Sort of the undercard for the playoff games that afternoon and night. Sort of kills it for me starting that early and seeing what we would have narrowly missed out on afterwards.

If we don't make the CFP then the cotton bowl probably goes to bama. Otherwise I could see it going to Ole miss....unless of course Ole miss picks off bama this weekend too.
