I've been a fan for a loooong time. It's the best I've seen. It's uncanny how much trouble teams having scoring against us from inside the 10.

In 1998 through 7 games we'd allowed 101 points.

In 1985 we'd allowed 112 through 7 games.

We've allowed 76 points through 7 this year in an era that heavily favors offense vs those eras. It's the fewest points we've given up through 7 games since 1972.

Great win: FL and Bama BTB

Nico took a huge step forward in the second half. We may be witnessing something special Hoss. These kids are playing with some serious heart
Really? Were we watching the same game? I think Nico was very 'meh'. Special may come in the next few weeks, but tonight wasn't it. I kept thinking all the "overthrow Joe" chants we heard last year. I think the team IS playing with a lot of heart though.

rewatch the second half. We dont win this game with last years quarterback nor any of the other quarterbacks on our roster. He made some special plays in the clutch.

He was very good in the second half
3-4 overthrows and 3-4 balls that simply have to be caught early on
He grew up a lot tonight

I'll wait until the next game before I believe he has proved anything. There's an awful lot of sunshine pumping going on tonight, and it is TOTALLY understandable. I WANT him to be great, but I still don't see it.

And I am really sorry. I don't mean to be a NegaVol at all. I can;t wait to light up my cigar. GBO!

The '85 defense was somewhat porous until Tony Robinson sustained his season-ending injury. After that, they were all but impregnable. During the last seven games, they surrendered only 34 points. Before that season, the 1970 defense was phenomenal. They surrendered 116 points in 12 games and established an NCAA record by intercepting 36 passes and recovering 21 fumbles in 11 games. In the '71 Sugar Bowl, they recorded an additional four interceptions and four fumble recoveries, but stats for bowl games did not count then.
