Best Email Client for Windows 8.1?

There is probably another thread somewhere dealing with this, but I'm getting lazier by the year.

I just got a new laptop (DELL). W8.1 is new to me and I hate that MS forces me (or tries to) to create a MS account to use its native email client. I ain't doing it. Its time to use another client.

I'm considering Thunderbird because I use Firefox as my default browser.

Any other suggestions?

I spent 30 years living on the bleeding edge of OS and software releases from IBM, DEC, HP, and MS. Now that my career doesn't depend on that behavior, I prefer to lag way behind and let others be the cannon fodder that I was for so long.

Do you use Windows email client in w10?

Outlook.com. You do not need a mail client, just use a browser.

I have used pretty much all of them.

For basic functionality and reliability, Thunderbird is hard to beat. I've switched many Outlook 2003-2007 users over to it, especially the ones who only care about checking their mail only.

That being said, I don't use it anymore. I actually have my own domain, and use Office 365 email, their hosted exchange. I use my browser to check my mail now, and I have the Outlook app on my Android phone to check it there. For $5 a month, its worth it for me.

Yep, good answer. I should have explained that in addition to my personal Gmail acct, I have multiple other email accts that I am saddled with for bidness porpoises.

I am trying Thunderbird. Its functional, but clumsy.

For what it's worth, gmail can handle those, too, most likely.
