Ive heard rumors of hefney moving back to corner to get morley in the game... anybody else heard this? and in your alls opinions.. what would be the best 4 personell combo so that the best 4 DBs are on the field at the same time? I dont think we can go very long without gettin D-Mo in there. whats your thoughts?

I also think that Morley offers great potential.

My greatest hope is that we put the best on the field and that they perform up to their ability.

They have a ton of options and depth, so I like that.

I know Fellows is battling with someone for the other Cb spot, but I forget who. My point? Fellows played well his freshman year (as well as he could, I think) and I felt he had tremendous upside.

I like:

CB Wade
CB Fellows
S Morley
S Hefney

Last year Fellows was the starting CB, and got benched after the LSU game for giving up an easy TD. The same thing happened 3 years ago in the Auburn game when Stewart got benched in favor of Jason Allen. IMO they are UT's worst CB's. For this reason, I would like to see

CB J Wade
CB J Hefney
SS D Morely
FS Fellows/Stewart

Stewart being the 5th back in the mustang package.

how can you count out inky especially putting fellows above him... inky was probly the best cover corner last year and that hit on samardzija is what its all about.. i say inky and wade at corners and then hefney and morley at safeties but you gotta throw in the juco transfer and stewart into the equation and i just want to second that campbell was a huge loss

I think UT's secondary is overrated. UT had the no. 1 pass rush and run defense last season and the secondary gave up a lot of passing yards against LSU, Vandy, and Notre Dame. Without UT's phenomenal pass rush last season, I think UT's seconary is average.

The best 2 athletes in the secondary are probably Wade and Morley ideally I would like to see them play corner. Inky Johnson maybe a better corner then Fellows or Stewart, thats a good point.

they were a bit overrated last year. but they are all veterans and have played in some big games. and this is just about the only experience we have on defense. they better hold together or this season will mimic last year's team

mark my words.... morley WILL NOT play corner he's to big and they have him already playin safety... so throw that idea out because its just not goin to happen. so basically you have wade, johnson, fellows, gaines and then hefney if he moves back. i think hefney is better suited at corner because he's only 5'9.. some list him at 5'11 but hes definately shorter.

Any situation that doesn't have Antwan Stewart on the field.

I feel so bad about not liking him on the field, but I cringe everytime I see the ball headed his way.

Not sure if Morley is bigger then Jason Allen, but I agree with your point. Watching Georgia's tight ends last season nearly run over UT's safeties, it was obvious UT needed a bigger player at that postion.

Inky and Wade are basically locks at CB. Hefney is just about a lock at S. What that leaves is Morley trying to overcome Stewart at the other S spot. Its potential vs. experience. And, I think unless Stewart is injured or plays horribly he will retain the 'starting spot' based on experience. However, Morley will be on the field long and often. He will spell Stewart at S. He will be the 5th DB in pass coverage package (mustang).

Stewart has had 3 seasons to impress the coaching staff and as a senior he is struggling to earn a starting spot. I would rather go with a younger, more althletic, but inexperienced player; then an "experienced" player who hasn't contributed much or stood out.

he's 6'2 195 which i probly almost identicle to allen however.... allen wont play corner in the pro's and though he was more comfortable... we all know he is a better safety. Dont get me wrong.. obviously he CAN play corner but i just think bein that big safety is a better fit

I think you have to place the best fundamental tackler at SS. With our front seven changing we may not have the pass rush we did, and TE's will eat our secondary up without an excellent fundamental tackler covering them. Id play Johnson at SS.

I'm looking forward to watching Wade again this season. He really turned it around last year and made some big plays.

Our secondary will be tough next season for sure.

I'd rather have 2 lockdown corners so that our SS can be a headhunter and help on the run and our FS can be a ballhawk and go for int's, thus Inky and Wade at CB.

I saw a picture of D Mo standing next to his buddy Kenny Phillips at the Army AA game, unless Phillips is 6'7" DMo is no where near Jason Allen's height. But of course he could of not had shoes on.

I think that we'll see more blitzing from our secondary this year too.
