I would first like to point out that I am still on the Bajakian/Jancek bandwagon.

This thread is *purely speculative* and just for fun.

If you could choose our OC and DC among all current coaches (ie, not dead/retired; NFL & NCAA), who would you pick to literally build the best staff in America?

Butch is the HC. No changes here.

If you're feeling frisky, you can make your choice on the position coaches/S&C coach as well. Try and provide some argument as to why you chose who you did.

Discuss!

Here, I'll start.

I'd bring in Saban as the DC and Chip Kelly as the OC.

Edit: I'd also bring in John Lott for S&C. I think he's with the Arizona Cardinals now, but the guy has a passion and a talent for making guys bigger, faster, and stronger.

May violate the spirit of the question, but...

OC - David Cutcliffe or Mark Richt (possibly Chad Morris as well)

DC - Will Muschamp (possibly John Chavis or Dick Bumpas)

Since we're just speculating and all.

OC- I would pick Kliff Kingsbury. He turned TAMU into an offensive machine and TTU is not too shabby.

DC- Kirby Smart would be my choice. He is a defensive master.

I went with all college coaches. Here would be my picks if it were NFL coaches.

OC- Josh McDaniels. He has done a great job with less than great talent.

DC- Easy one here. Dick LeBeau. He is the gold standard in the NFL. Consistent top 10 defenses year in and year out.

Derek Mason - Defensive Coordinator (Stanford)

Greg Roman - Offensive Coordinator (49ers)

I considered putting down Mason... he is definitely a hell of a DC, and Stanford doesn't really finish with top 15 recruiting classes...

Roman on the other hand... that's an interesting choice. The 49ers haven't been super productive on offense lately; do you just like the type of offense he runs?

He coached Luck at Stanford and really utilizes the tight end as an offensive weapon in both college and the pros. I think he is going to get a head coaching job soon.

you're right. I never read your thread, I just remarked because of your thread title. I'm sorry.

No problem... hopefully you understand why I was exasperated... lol

I agree that tight ends should be utilized more as weapons than simply blockers, and next year we should see OUR staff do that, especially with Wolf and Helm coming in. I wouldn't mind seeing Croom at TE either... but that's a discussion for a different thread at a different time. Anyway, I didn't think about it, but when Alex Smith got injured, Roman did adapt the 49ers offense around Kaepernick basically overnight, and they got all the way to the SB. Yeah, good choice. :good!:

our O will look more like the Patriots than the 49ers, if you take out the zone read plad.

When this staff gets their kids it will be a different story. We have let this happen. Like Jim Tom says on moonshiners. You can't make good shine in a hurry. It takes time.
