Travis Stephens posted a picture on Facebook of himself, Travis Henry and Jamal Lewis, which made me think about the best trio of RBs for a season at UT. They would have to be at or near the top. Hayden, Stewart and Garner were pretty good as well. Maybe some of you older fans will remember some prior to my time.

agreed, pretty hard to top that trio. I know cobb and webb was a great combo but don't recall our third back at that time. Too bad that one didnt last too long.

Its a new season, new coaches, and new attitude. GO VOLS, lets shock the world. ( at least the football world ) :good!:

Tony Thompson. Overshadowed somewhat by the other two, but did have a thousand-yard season his senior year, and I believe he had a couple of 200-yard games.

He was the third-string tailback in '89, the year of the Cobb-Webb tandem. Thompson ran for 300 yards in '89 and then amassed 1261 yards and 16 touchdowns rushing in 1990. So yes, that was a strong trio as well.

Since we are on the subject of running backs. Did you guys read where Rajion Neal didn't give real effort on one of the exercise routines and then apparently gave coach Gillespie some lip after CRG called him out on it? The article said he was running for quite a bit after that. Hopefully he learns but being a senior and having that kind of attitude about practice and giving your coach lip isn't reassuring.

Sorry, guys. I don't stay on here 24/7 and obviously missed that thread. Just thought it was an Interesting topic.
