I will be leaving comcast soon. 238,000 others agreed with me last quarter. I want to know who to switch to. Uverse, Direct, Dish, or stay w/ Comcast? I read the thread earlier about Uverse and a lot of folks had good things to say about them.

Direct every day of the week and twice on Sundays if you're in an area that allows for a good, consistent signal. Re: phone service, I haven't had a home phone since i lived with my parents. Internet, as far as I know, it's pick your poison.

I hate DirecTv, had it for two years, getting Uverse on the 17th.

Was paying 93$ a month for DirecTV, With Uverse, I'm going to get about 100 more channels ( In HD ) AND 12mps internet for 100$ a month.

Granted, they screwed me over on my install date twice, I canceled the entire service, called them back a week later and got that deal along with a prepaid Visa gift card for 100$.

Just canceled Uverse TV, going back to Directv.

$53.99 for tv, including NFL Sunday Ticket, HD, Movie channels free for 3 mos, free installation, among other things.

$24.95 Internet for keeping Uverse Internet. $79.00 for everything for 12 mos. Can't beat it!

After the first year, you will be paying about 90$ a month for that TV package.

Thanks, Milo, Gahlee, SDV. I should have mentioned I called them all and took notes on prices, packages and so forth. After talking to each of them, I thought they was almost a wash. I just wondered if anyone had figured out which one was the best value. I suppose that answer lies in the mind of each consumer, but since we all like sports, movies, the vols, and such this seems like a good place for the debate :)

Get the fastest Internet you can and use a Magic Jack for phone.

And same with you and Uverse. My rates just went up with them. Every company does it

Brand new Uverse customer. 18 meg download speed is nice.

TV has a crazy amount of channels but I'm getting screen freezes (like right now) and some pixelation. Installer told me I was in the "gray area" for it working. I'm 4600 feet from the thingy and that apparently is right at the limit. Took two different outside crews and about 5 hours of work time to even get a signal to my house.

The wi-fi router that comes with the system is weak too.

I have home phone, 18 meg Internet and the maxed out TV package for $160 and free install (1 year deal)

The difference is, I have no term contract and can cancel anytime I want without penalty, whereas you can't and will be forced to pay that price untill you finish out year two.

To each their own, I hated DirecTv, had the picture go out at least 3 times during football games last year because it was raining outside.

What's the word on Knology in Knoxville? I'm tempted to switch but currently have the ~25Mb internet from Comcast for cheap. That will run out. I see Knology is advertising up to 30Mb. Anyone know real world speeds after any powerboast, etc.

Also, are their HD channels looking good?

Comcast has a free xoom offer running right now. They don't advertise it and mail you the xoom, but here it is

Version 2: $99 x 12 TP or step up to HD Preferred Plus XF Triple Play and receive a Motorola XOOM™ (no price for the HD Preferred Plus XF TP will be mentioned on the piece but the qualifying price point is EDP - $174.99 or HD Premier XF TP at $199.99)

Version 3: Free Motorola XOOM™ with the HD Preferred Plus XF TP at $174.99 EDP (CAEs can also sell the customer into the HD Premier XF TP at $199.99 for the XOOM as well.)
