We stumbled on this conversation at work so I wanted your opinions to help us decide the better ball coach. I will admit picked CPC, mostly because of his success in college and NFL.

Your Thoughts?

Saban, hes about to win his 3rd title in 4 years and 4th overall, he hasn't been proven to be a cheater yet, and he was only in the NFL for 2 years and was 15-17

Saban is 15-17 in 2 seasons with the dolphins.

That is tough one. As Bentenn mentioned, Saban has not been caught cheating so I would give the nod to him.

Carroll. We all saw what Saban did in the NFL and at Michigan State for that matter without elite talent. Bottom line is if Saban was as good as everybody thinks he is, he wouldn't have lost to A&M this year or Utah in the Sugar Bowl. Those are the definition of Fulmer-like losses.

Carroll did get caught cheating but lets not forget how Saban repeatedly lied to the Dolphins organization about the Bama job.

Saban.

Most tend to believe the SEC is the better conference of the two which means Saban played the tougher schedule and while it's not hard to recruit at LSU and Alabama, I'm thinking it would be even easier to recruit at USC. Between California being a massive state that produces a bunch of a talent, better weatger and living in Los Angeles... USC sells itself. Kiffin starts out ranked #1, has a terrible season and kids still want to come despite the fact he's an average coach and will be fired if he has another bad season. They're going there simply because it's USC and everything else the school offers. I don't think you're going to see a lot of kids who want to go live in Alabama for 4 years if they have a crappy coach. USC is an easier job and Saban still had a better career.

Fulmer-like loss? This will be a good one....

Pete Carroll was 33-31 after his first 2 nfl jobs and 16-16 after his first 2 seasons. Also, that 16-16 record was aided greatly by the fact that in his second NFL coaching job he took over Parcells patriots that had just gone to the super bowl the year before. Now if you want to use his second stint in the NFL, he was 14-18 after his first 2 years at Seatle. Not seeing how taking the 2 year sample size of Saban in the NFL really shows anything here.

Edit: just realized you were responding to a question Ion, my apologies.

Players love Pete and want to play for him. Saban is a machine on the college level. His M.O. is to beat your team with superrior talent and the NFL is basically the same across the board. Cant compare Saban to Belichek because he wins with other teams cast offs and has beens.

I'm sending in a write-in vote for Derek Dooley!
