As last football season dragged on, I asked myself a very simple economic question: How much is a single UT win worth to me? I decided it was worth $39 (ticket price) and therefore, began placing $39 on UTs opponent every game. This way, if I saw a UT win at Neyland Stadium, then I basically paid $80 to watch them win, and if they disappointed me, I got my money back.

I guess that's a good plan but I just can't place a bet against UT. And since they rarely cover, I just avoid their games altogether. I get too wired just watching them to have to worry about money.

Best advice I ever got was "Never bet for or against UT". If you do - :banghead:

i bet against tennessee most of the year after the UAB game. they were money, i always feel bad about winning. it is nice though when the money comes in the mail, so in the end it was a pretty profitable season after all. eventhough we were terrible.

never let your heart get in the way of picking the right side of a wager. If you can't do that then do as xanny said and just don' t bet on UT games.

I faded the vols in football most of the time last year and made a pretty good amount off them.

They were money in hoops this year though. I believe they had one of the best ats percentages in the nation this year.

Thank you Mr. Rose.

I thought the one justification for Pete Rose was that he always bet FOR his team. Of course, he never played/coached for the Vols, or saw his nationally ranked team fail to beat a second rate team like UAB by more than one score.

UT HAS MADE ME A FEW THOUSAND BUCKS, BUT I'VE ONLY BET ON THEM FOUR TIMES & THAT WAS IN 98 & 99. GOOD TIMING I GUESS. I QUIT WHILE I WAS AHEAD.

hey when your playing as bad as we were last year coming into memphis and vandy it was easy money. i was at the memphis game and williams didn't play hardly at all and i figured i was done for. memphis still ended up covering eventhough the vols won. when the vols are good or playing a team that i think they can cover i will bet for them, but last year we were horrible. you can't let your heart get involved when you are wagering money, it will burn you usually in the end.

did you bet against UT when they played Kentucky? surely that game wasnt worth 80 bucks to you and did you really think THEY would beat us?

No, stopped after we were no longer bowl eligible.

i didn't bet on the kentucky game, i lost the lsu game. tennessee covered the ole miss game and i think that was the only game i bet for them last year. i know the two big games for me were the memphis and vandy games.

i thought williams played a couple of series against ut. well i had alot to drink so your probably right, still all worked out in the end. if williams had played ut would have lost that game to. i just remember sitting there thinking how bad we looked.

If you want sure money, bet on Kentucky to cover the spread. They're masters of the 1,2, 3, or 15 point loss.
