NASHUA, New Hampshire (CNN) — Joe Biden told supporters at a town hall Wednesday afternoon that Barack Obama might have been better off choosing Hillary Clinton as his running mate.
“Make no mistake about this, Hillary Clinton is as qualified or more qualified than I am to be vice president of the United States of America. Let’s get that straight,” Biden said testily when a voter told Biden he was glad the Delaware senator had been chosen and not Clinton.

“She’s a truly close personal friend and she is qualified to be President of the United States of America, she’s easily qualified to be Vice President of the United States of America and quite frankly it might have been a better pick than me,” he continued.
"I mean that sincerely, she’s first rate.”
iReport.com: Calling Clinton supporters — What do you think?
After dropping out of the presidential race in January, Biden refrained from endorsing either Obama or Clinton — unlike most of the other Democratic contenders who followed. He told donors at a fundraiser in Boston Wednesday morning that after his withdrawal, Obama asked for his support but Biden declined because of his relationship with Clinton.

I said the day Obama picked Biden is the day he lost this race, I still hold that thought today. I thank Obama everyday he picked Biden.

A guy that so many people have faith in screwed up a VP pick about as bad as could possibly be done. Why would anyone think he is qualified to deal with world leaders?

If keeping score at home:

VP picks
McCain - A++++++
Obama - in corner with dunce hat on.

Perhaps Biden is laying the framework for him stepping away from the Vice Presidency, allowing Clinton to step into the role.

I have a feeling that if that happened, Hillary would tell Obama where to stuff himself. It's bad enough he didn't pick her the first time, but she's not going to play second fiddle to a moron like Biden.

On the flip side we could pick a guy that has to ride the coat tails of his VP in order to get elected. The same guy that decided the experience argument doesn't work so he bit off Obama's change message in order to get elected. So basically, he can't get elected with his own message or on his own merits.

You're right -- I mean afterall, he was down 3 points in the polls -- what a loser.

If Obama had picked Hillary the reps would have said, "oh yeah, Bill Clinton is back in the white house"..blah,blah,blah...., and "they know nothing about foreign policy"..blah,blah,blah. It probably wouldn't be much different than it is now. I would be curious to see who McCain would have picked as his VP though if this had happened.

It seems to be a huge advantage to go last on the convention. Who decides this stuff, do they rotate each election or something? McCain got to sit back and pick someone based on Obama's decision. If Obama picks Hillary than McCain picks Romney, IMO.

You must admit Clinton did have a horrible record of foreign policy though, and he had maybe half of the problems to deal with.

He did do a good job domestically but that has very little to do with the president in office at the time, just as Bush isn't the reason the economy has taken a down turn.

This is nothing. There will be at least one hugely embaressing gaff by Biden before the election is over.
