Big 10 Championship Game (FOX)

That’s the super bowl..... that’s not what we are talking about. We are talking about the lead up to the final standings to determine playoff teams..... The “what have you done lately” eye test doesn’t exist in the NFL. You know if you win, you’re in. I agree Wisconsin would have to win by a big margin to allow them or maybe a another 1 loss team to get in other than Ohio State.

The only way Wisconsin gets the 4 spot is for them to finish this game off like 35-7 or something big. Them winning a close game doesn’t get them into the playoff. Nor should it. That loss to Illinois should matter. Especially if you are comparing them to a 12-1 OSU team that beat them earlier.
I’m talking about the playoff picture should be expanded to some point like the NFL has expanded. An 8 team format would be good.

I’ll just do us both a favor and say call it like you want and I’ll call it like I want. Makes no difference anyway the AA is gonna push whomever the biggest money draw is

So you're telling me if Tennessee went into the SEC Championship undefeated and ranked #1 and gets upset that you'd then argue a 2 loss Pac 12 Champion would deserve a playoff spot over them?

But, but, but ... best team in the nation
Ohio St is always a pretender. The Big 10 gaudy records of teams like Iowa, Minnesota, and Indiana were built off of terrible schedules so when Ohio St or UW beats those teams it is billed as a great win when it is a decent win over a solid but unspectacular team. We are better than Indiana and we went 7-5 while they went 8-4. Check this out. They have Ohio St as the number 1 SOS. There no way their schedule was tougher than LSU’s and certainly not tougher than Auburn’s.

There may be teams which could be competitive now for a NC but are not getting the chance. The expansion needs to happen now , not later. BTW some of the most recent playoff games have been competitive so I don’t know what you have been watching ?

2 out of 10 semifinals have been good games. 2.

Being heavily favored and losing? Tennessee at that point would be so I’d be perfectly fine with it. They didn’t get it done so why should they go?

8 team playoffs would be more competitive and it would allow a hot team at the end of the season that maybe lost a game early a chance to show it in the playoffs. Plus I believe it would elevate the excitement for NCAA football even more than it is today. UT in 85 is the perfect example. I believe they were the best team in the country but the early loss to Florida cost them the Championship.
If you’re good enough you can lose 1 and make it. You can’t lose by 30 at Iowa and make it though.

Not at all. Because you then start having 2 and 3 loss teams start arguing who’s more deserving.

Then a spot would get wasted on a Group of 5 school who’s coach would most likely leave before the playoff game for a new school so they wouldn’t miss Early Signing Day.

Hell no

If Wisconsin handles OU decisively tonight , OU does not deserve the playoff spot. IDK who would get it but not OU.
You say that but, just like Bama 2 years ago, there isn’t a team ready to take their place. If you have one other P5 team with less than 2 losses I’d say you would have a point but, unfortunately, OSU is simply one of the 4 best and most deserving this year no matter what. I can’t stand them either.

Odds are they would have a better loss then any two loss team. The goal is to get the 4 best teams to compete in the playoff. It doesn’t make the conference championship irrelevant. It just makes it less important then having the 4 best teams compete for the championship.

I agree, but what if Wisconsin ends up winning by 21+ or something? Is there a margin of loss that would matter or does it not matter?

Wisconsin would deserve it if there are no other 1 loss teams. They would have proven it tonight.

If Wisconsin wins by 3+ scores, I think there is a strong argument they would leapfrog OU for that 4th spot and OSU would drop to #3

Right on , that is the point I’m trying to make. It is the perfect argument for an 8 team playoff. Both Wisconsin and OU would be in the playoffs with Wisconsin deserving for beating OU in the conference championship.

They beat UW by 31 in Columbus. Take away the 3 point Vegas home bump, and if Wisconsin beats tOSU by 28, I'll say that tOSU doesn't deserve to get in.

If you're mad that OSU is in even with a loss, then be mad at Wisconsin for choking at Illinois and/or Oregon for choking at Arizona St.
