This appears to be the Big 10's best chance to make a good impression during the bowl season. Let me first state my position. I think the Big 10 is a garbage conference all around. However, I think they may have a chance to make a good impression because of their matchups.

First of all, Wisconsin got one against the failing ACC today.
Minnesota-Iowa State: I don't really give a crap and the result of this game probably won't affect me at all.
Northwestern-Auburn: It's the Big 10's number 4 vs the SEC's number 8. I don't think it's the best match up possible, but the Big 10 still has a chance to do something here. A win against a flopping Auburn team may not be that impressive, but it's pretty necessary to anyone caring about the Big 10's reputation.
Penn State-LSU: Penn State played 2 games which could be considered tests and they failed both miserably. They have one more shot against a horribly coached LSU team. I think LSU wins this game on talent, but a win would look really good for the Big 10.
MSU-Texas Tech: MSU must be thankful for the situation with Leach. I'm not sure how Tech will respond.
OSU-Oregon: It's hard to express how badly OSU needs this one. Smart money seems to be on Oregon, but maybe Tressel will have the Buckeyes ready.
Iowa-Georgia Tech: Let me start this off by saying I think Iowa is a fraud. They basically always have been under Ferentz. However, this Tech team lost to Georgia. Iowa may not win, and Tech is not a great team, but beating a conference champ in a BCS game will look pretty nice.

So does anyone else think the Big 10 can finally have a good bowl season? I think the Big 10 sucks, and don't think bowl season is the best way to judge conference strength, but the conference now has an opportunity make itself look respectable. It has quite a few favorable match ups, so it will be interesting to see if they do well, or vomit all over themselves as usual. I'm hoping for option 2, but who knows what will happen? It's basically put up, or shut up time for the Big 10.

So sorry for this thread. I just thought of this and had to get this out there for someone to read. If you don't care about the Big 10, feel free to skip over this, as always.

As much as I agree that the Big 10 is garbage, I think that Northwestern beats Auburn and Penn St dominates LSU.

Yeah I also think the Big 10 can have a pretty good bowl record but, like you said, it doesn't accurately gauge a conference's strength. It all depends on matchups or if the teams really want to win.

PSU's actually favored which surprised me cause they've beaten nobody all year. I think OSU can beat Oregon since they play much better defense than anyone in the Pac 10. Iowa could pull it out. They've played well in bowls under Ferentz.

If at least 2 of the top 3 (Iowa, PSU, OSU) in the Big Ten win, it'll get them some respect but not enough to matter. They need to have someone beat an SEC team of Bama or UF's caliber to get that.

MSU doesnt really stand a chance against Tech even with Leach suspended. They have something like 10-15 guys suspended for the game as a result from an on campus fight. Of those suspended are 2 of Michigan State's top WR's 1 or 2 starting DB's on an already weak secondary. I wouldnt be surprised to see Tech pass for over 400 yards against State

Completely slipped my mind.
