I'm sitting here watching Yankeefanintenn's 1998 florida game and announcers said jamal lewis and big Al had a bench press competition and they both got up to 460lbs with ease until the coaches stopped them to prevent injury...My lord we had some studs! I remember ESPN bragging about trent richardson benching 415lbs this year. That just shows you the type players we had in jamal and big Al. Just thought I'd share...GBO!

I remember hearing back in the day Lewis could bench 500 lbs. He was a beast! Al too.

That's Vols football... it's not this crap we've been getting fed lately.

We get beasts... and make them better. It's not a complicated model.

I remember Ralph Nelsons claim to fame was his bench press, too bad it didnt translate to the field.

I was just amazed...Just watching the players from then, they were tougher and it meant more. It is obvious! I think we are getting more of those players in this class.

Umm someone has their stats wrong. TRich benched 500lbs and the coaches told him he can't go any higher cause he might hurt himself. Plenty of players said he could do more than 500lbs if he was allowed. He's one of the strongest guys around.

Jamal and Al were beasts and so is TRich. All three of those guys had/have GI Joe bodies.

Those guys were sort of beastly from the onset.

Jac is from that stock, imo.

This was freshman year, scary

If so, it still does'nt change the fact that we had some BEASTS!

Al Wilson was the MAN!! Dude was stoked all the time when he had the orange on. He was the guy that everyone on the team feared/looked up to. We desperately need to find another guy like that. We'll never have another Big Al though!

Mike Mayock with the inside scoop. Worked his way up from Sideline Reporter to the big-time.

I used to work at Pilot on the strip in college. We sold a ton of kegs every weekend. Al Wilson came in one night and purchased two. I threw them on a dolly and rolled them out to his ford bronco. Rear door was open. I asked (like we did with all customers) if I could help him load them. He just gave me a little smirk, and lifted each up and in at the same time. Nut in a curl motion either. Palms down, arms out straight. WOW!

They benched that much but Darwin Walker was the one killing until Jacques McClendon came along. Those Stuckey days of yesteryear were sweet!

I heard that duri8ng Chavis' time here he had a picture in his office of Wilson and Lewis in going at each other on the practice field. Anybody know if that is true or had a chance to see it?
