Big Ben to Raiders?

Won't happen; I think you'd have to be looking at a 2 1st rounders over the next two years deal

The old man can still make decisions despite his senile state?

I mean Al Davis is already the JUDGE DREDD OF THE NFL. If he has coaches, a GM or a scouting department..........................they are merely props or stuntmen.

Guy's scum. His players don't like him but have put up with him, there have been rumors about his nefarious activities since Miami U and he's a dick in the first place.

I don't know how he looks his kid sister in the eye anymore.

I think this is all a moot point because I don't believe this deal is happening unless the Raiders are giving up big....and I'm not sure player-wise who big they have to give up

Yeah, I am not sure what the raiders would be able to offer to get ben. However do you think it might be the same kind of deal that they take a lot less for him than he is worth......like SH?

I don't think so. The steelers don't seem to be quickly trying to sell Ben (or "cleaning house") as they were with Holmes; I don't seem him going for cheap

Their saying "we'll listen to trade offers" seems to pretty much say he's still at normal value

the fact that they are shopping him period tells me they want him gone. if the steelers want him gone bad enough to be talking trade, than they might in fact take less to get him out of their city. kind of like trying to sell something at price or best offer. i don't see any team paying him what he is making as a steeler. i always felt like that contract was way to high to begin with. and it might in this case come back to bite them badly. yeah he got them to 2 superbowls, but i think it was big plays by the receiving core and the defense that brought both of those titles to them. sure he scrambled and made some plays that won them some games, but he is not the sole piece of the puzzle to the steelers winning games. the highest bidder with the best possible offer might win the day if they want him gone that bad.

It's more cautious though than the Santonio Holmes scenario; they made it a point to say they weren't seeking a trade in the same way before then saying "well we'll listen if a good offer comes up"

I think they aren't looking to definitely send him out, but they do want to bait and see if someone will trade the farm for Ben, at which point they might jump aboard.

But this isn't going to be a case where he goes for cheap or less or anything like that

that is where i disagree somewhat with what you are saying. he has some baggage now that he did not have when he signed huge contracts and extensions with the steelers. he has an increasing history of concussions and legal issues that may drive down the price. to put it simply he is wreckless, example being his motorcycle accident. his pr at the moment is at an all time low and that is not going to just up and vanish this season.

i have no clue as to what a reasonable asking price is for him, but just want to point out that he has some issues that could drive down the bargaining price if they in fact do want him gone. i don't know the steelers owners and am not sure how much or if they actually want him gone. but this is a major hit for the steelers and it will not go away until he is gone.

I'm certain he won't be traded away for less than a 2nd round pick, and that would have to be probably tied in with a good player

If teams only come offering 4th or 5th rounders, the Steelers aren't going to get rid of him though. This looks similar to market shopping, kinda like how McDaniels had done at the beginning of his coaching tenure with Cutler (save though this doesn't have the case of one side doesn't know about it at all and there wont be a trade demanded or anything)

that sounds pretty reasonable if a team wants him bad enough. don't get me wrong i was not trying to attack your point of view, but just wanted to throw some of the other aspects that teams may be considering in trading for him. the steelers locked him up for a lot of money, because he was their poster boy. they sold a lot of #7 jerseys, but that is not happening now. i feel like the steelers and their fanbase views him more as a liability nowadays. i do think he is on his way out, whether it happens soon or down the road a ways. for how much again we just do not know until a team bites the line.

yeah he has to earn his way back into their good graces assuming he does stay up there. But I'm still not sure they're ready to run him out with pitchforks and torches blazing

if he keeps up these kind of things happening to him though, he could very well find the team sincerely trying to get rid of him in the next few years

i did not see them making him available so quick. but i agree. it will be interesting to see how the saga turns out in the next few days.

Shefter just twote that he "heard from a reliable source" that it is "extremely unlikely" that the Steelers will trade Big Ben.
