What a joke. They are going to end up with an unranked team with 4/5 losses playing in a BCS bowl. The AQ conference champions should at least have to be ranked in the top 20 in order to qualify.

I get what you are saying, but if the SEC champion comes from the East then the SEC will be in the same situation.

Not necessarily. Florida and South Carolina are both in the top 25. They could easily finish in the top 20 if they win the SEC.

Yeah. I should have typed could instead of would. It is still possible though and as bad as the Big East is, I wouldn't want to see the automatic qualification rule changed. Every conference could have a down time and put out a dud as champion. I know this is a basketball reference, but some bad teams will always get into the NCAAs by virtue of winning their conference tournaments and push out better teams. I wouldn't want that changed either, but that is just me... It isn't like the Big East champion will be playing for a national title.

The margin for error in the mens basketball tournament is pretty large with 68 or however many teams it has now. Nobody has any sympathy for the last four out.

I don't have any sympathy for the teams that miss the BCS bowls either unless it is a matter of making the title game or not.

I do with the bcs as long as the big least is still getting automatic bids. The conferences play quality is somewhere between the mwc and c-USA.

The problem is the Big East has been a dud of a conference since Miami and VT bolted for the ACC. The MWC is more deserving of AQ status than the Big East is now.
