Got to have One that can score and rebound in March. Put one with the guard play we had this year and your a final four team. I like Uros and Fulky but they just didn’t contribute consistently enough. It was exposed tonight. The teams that go deep in March have one. Auburn will be exposed with same.

While there's obvious truth to this, I'll argue that had Vescovi not gone MIA and ZZ hit a couple of 3s like he normally does, we're probably advancing (oh and don't forget the refs).

BHH can make a big leap next year if he puts the work in. His hands were horrible, but he and Nkamhoua should be a solid frontcourt. And Nkamhoua adds a dimension with 3 pt shooting. Aidoo adds shot blocking and Plavsic adds toughness. James can still play the 4. Tamba…who knows. Add Phillips and it gets interesting as he can stretch as a 4 plus can put ball on the floor.

I would gladly take Auburn’s Smith and Kessler as our post players for next season

I feel good about next year, assuming only Fulky and Chandler leave....and we're all good with an entertaining and successful year and don't go nuts if we don't make the final four.

Guards are what win and lose you games in March. We lost today because our guards couldn’t make open shots. Big men are inconsequential to a deep run, in almost all cases.

I normally agree with you 💯 but we were up 60-54 and ZZ missed 2 wide open 3’s. One to go up by 9.
You are correct and if our guards would have shot the 3 close to their averages then we might could have overcome their big guys who outscored our bigs 42 to 23. So our guards had to be 20 points better to overcome their superior post players. How can all the blame be on our guards coming up short?

I’m not blaming our guards at all. But I’m not going to blame ourbigs either. 2-18 from 3 couldn’t be overcome is just my point. I thought Uros played great. Vescovi had a bad game. I think he would say that. The 60-54 lead where we missed wide open 3’s really hurt us.

The 3 guards and James had all been shooting so well lately but the shots were rimming out. 11% from 3 is a killer for a team that takes a lot of 3’s but sometimes it happens in basketball, nature of the sport.

My one question during the game was not doubling a red hot center when he got the ball down low. Sounded like he was also skilled at passing out of the double team but at some point I’d let somebody else on their team make those shots

I ran to the kitchen when Vescovi got called for a foul late. The TV kept showing Uros getting killed? Was that significant? I missed that possession. I think they called Vescovi on a rebound foul but Uros got killed.

Yea, that one hurt as it was a ticky foul in light of how the game was being called and it cost Uros the chance at 2 ft’s.

Auburn has Kessler and Smith plays the 4 often.

I thought Uros played his ass off tonight. He is an easy target. Everybody loves to hate on him. I missed that possession but caught the replay on CBS.

I love this team and I love Barnes.

See y’all next year! Enjoy the banter!!

His hands aren’t horrible. Uros has bad hands but not BHH. He has a pretty soft touch. I agree he can take a huge step forward. His footwork is excellent for someone his size.

We lost because Vescovi got rattled by how they were guarding him. He will usually take it and drive the lane using his head fakes to draw fouls to loosen defenders off of him. He didn’t do that last night. He would drive to pass immediately not looking for a shot.

Next I really thought we should have went bigger in the paint. Big Plav played strong and hard. Aidoo & BHH needed to be out there to defend the rim. Too many lay ups given up late. I watched a few Michigan games this year. Their guards struggled amongst trees scoring in that respect.

Maybe if we don’t run into 2 of the poorest officiated games at Texas & at Arkansas….have Fulky & Chandler for that Bama game…we end up seeded different to not get that Michigan match up. Then the SEC Tournament Championship win actually makes a difference in that regard. Who knows. Either way….we lost. It is what it is.

I thank the team and Coach Rick Barnes/staff for a fun season with a strong SEC Tournament run. They delivered a SEC Championship. Beat #1 Auburn. Beat mighty Arizona and beat down Blue Blood UNC. Barnes yet again out coached Cal and our biggest rival Kentucky 2/3 this season to now be 10-7 vs Kentucky since arriving. Barnes owns the most dominant conference program and head coach in the SEC. That to me is worth it reflecting back now that I’ve calmed down.

Uros actually may have played his best game-he was our most effective. Regardl7, shooting 11% from three is a statistic you can’t win with.

Uros is likely to be the starter next year at center. Just like when Fulk took the big step forward after Grant and Alexander left, I expect Uros to take a step. There is no reason why he can’t be a walking double double next year. He and Aidoo will be the 5 rotation. One thing I think hurt us in the post was we having 4-5 guys rotating. At the core, our post rotation was capable of putting up a combined 20/20 game constantly. Losing Fulk sucks but solidifies our rotation as we will have 2 post up and 2 mid range guys that we can run in tandem. Fulky was the tweener.

We will likely be a top 8 team preseason with Edwards coming in. If Bailey or someone else leaves, maybe we can get lucky in the portal with someone.
