We may not be happy with who TN has now, but we have him. He waned the job, WE NEED TO SHOW HIM SOME BIG ORANGE LOVE, I REPEAT HE WANTED TO BE HERE, when it appears no one else did.

So the argument for Jones is going to be the same as it was for Dooley? It's okay if he sucks because "no one else wanted to be here". Pitiful.

What exactly will showing support do, other than continue the long march to mediocrity?

I have nothing against Butch Jones, just like I had nothing against Derek Dooley. Both are fine gentlemen. I'm thrilled Jones wanted to coach here. Hell, I want to coach here, but just wanting to be here doesn't mean its the right fit, or increase chances of success.

This blind support of every decision being made by the university just because it is orange an white is silly. Fans need to do whatever reasonably necessary to voice displeasure. This isn't a knock on Jones or sign we hate him as a person. Its a sign we are sick of mediocrity.

Don't tell me I have to support this inept loser. I'll support whomever I choose, just because he wants to be here doesn't mean he deserves it. Tennessee is continually weakening it's brand by letting idiots hire more idiots. Don't spend your money on UT merchandise or tickets until the university shows you things are going to be DIFFERENT!!!

BOYCOTT TENNESSEE UNTIL DAVE HART IS FIRED!

Amen brother!That's where I'm at!Unfortunatly the only way these idiots take a hint or message is empty seats and bad revenue!Doesn't mean you don't support the players.Mediocre AD=Mediocre coach,Mediocre coach=Mediocre talent,Mediocre talent=LOSING!!!

If people don't like this hire, why be sheep about it? If alums and donors had been more vocal and less tolerant while the UTAD continued to bungle the eternal rebuilding, perhaps we wouldn't be stuck in the Lost Decade of UT Football. The overwhelmingly negative response from alums and donors isn't going to go quietly this time-- not after Kiffin, compounded by Dooley.

And i'm sure you donate million's? Yea thought so, i wanted a bigger name, but i support the vol's. Can't wait if he doe's win and you and many other's are on here yelling, go vol's! VFL!!

I am an alumni of 40 years and a season ticket holder and contributor for 38 years, and I am not happy with this crap of being content with mediocrity. I will not be one of hart's sheep and blindly accept whatever crap is given to me. I have not yet decided what to do regarding next year, but at the very least my number of tickets and contribution is being cut in half.

For those of you are in the same predicament, should you go forward, at least wait as close to the Mar 1 deadline as possible to let hart know you are not happy.

If Jan and Feb roll around without the anticipated contributions and sales...the AD will be shaken up
I just think that we'll get the "support the new coach" phone calls by this weekend

These are the people I worry about the 38 year alums ..the core of the sales

Oh and for people that want to "Hear" from the "million" dollar Boosters good luck with that I am just sure they value your opinion and are standing by the phone awaiting your call":whatever:

I'm going to at least wait and make then call me a couple times this year before sending my money in.

Whiners, there is no guarantee when it comes to a new hire. Jones could be a lousy hire, could win 10 games next season. We just don't know. I was hoping for a Gruden hire, but X wins weren't guaranteed with that either. I don't believe Jones is a mediocre coach. His W-L record indicates otherwise. Dooley, on the other hand, was mediocre. I hope the donors and alumni can unite on this hire and propel the program forward.

Uh...no. I hear Alabama takes bandwagon fans. Why don't you jump on that one since you can't support your team. I wasn't happy about it this morning when I heard about it, but now, I am quite excited about it. Impressed with the coach. He has to show me a product on the field, but I am not going to not support him when he has done absolutely nothing for me not to.

We all need to give him a chance, we need to support him and see what happens. HE IS THE COACH! I will support who ever wears the orange until they give me a reason to not support them, ie Dooley after KY last year. I believe Jones can be a great coach for the VOLS. GBO
Feel free to tell me how stupid I am again, as most have all day, but I am not a bandwagon fan, I am a true fan. Support the Orange and White.

Agreed wholeheartedly but I will admit that my patience is probably much shorter. In my opinion I will need to know all I need to know after the Florida game next year. I'm not saying he has to be 3-0 at that point but if we suffer two weeks of blow outs, then I'm telling you, Butch Jones will never have a chance, no matter how much time he is given.

I want to know this too. After being lectured by fellow fans all night long, I'd like to know how many of the lecturers are chickens, or pigs. Chickens make a contribution to breakfast. Pigs make a commitment. So, how many chickens and pigs are on here tonight pontificating about fanhood? I'm a pig, by the way--Lifelong fan, (I have 20+ year old sweatshirts from Sugar Bowls)Tennessee Fund donor, Engineering department contributor, season ticket holder and payer of tuition of a kid who spends most of whatever money I have left there.

Sound out, Vols. Tell me how much money you actually put where your mouth was last year when we were giving Dooley a chance. And no, I really don't care whether you come to every game and donate--that's not the point. The point is, don't call me, who has supported this program through more thick and thin than I care to think about, a fake fan, if I express doubts, concerns or disappointment about this hire and the way it was handled. I have a life-long Vol card fan. I don't owe Butch Jones loyalty. He owes it to me. And, he earned a little bit of it tonight by keeping Jay Graham.

No. Phil fulmers record shows a great coach, Butch Jones shows a mediocre coach....Derek Dooley shows a horribly inept coach.

Edit: college football is a business. These people calling people fair weather or bandwagon. You're being stupid. There I said it. If you get vizio TVs and suddenly they stop being good because the makers decided they didn't need the best anymore are you going to still use vizio or are you going to stop giving them money? I'll always support my vols but my money will go elsewhere till the investment is proven worth it.
