Big Orange takeover - Athens, GA Edition

For any and all fellow Vol fans headed to Athens, would y'all be up for a Big Orange takeover of a local eatery/watering hole on Friday night?

Akademia Brewing might be a good option (food menu plus good beer variety/full bar), with indoor and outdoor seating. Plus, it's a fair piece away from the college kids (and others) failing to hold their alcohol downtown.

The wife and I will aim to be up there around 7pm or so. If we see there's a sizeable group that is going to show up, we will try and post up where there is adequate space (either at the bar or out on the patio). Look for folks in orange and white!

No idea if it's been done before, but my whole idea behind it was, living in the Athens area (aka enemy territory), to get like-minded VolNation types together.

I've seen bunches of posts about how we have members living all over the place. Wouldn't it be something if we had a veritable Big Orange Fifth Column to organize this sort of thing all over the SEC prior to away games?

Ummm…in a potential bar fight with Georgia fans, I think I’d hide behind the guy in the gray pullover. But, I’d try to run beside the little wiry one in the orange pullover. Don’t take any of that barking crap guys. Kick the first mangy mutt that tries that .

Our table maxed out at 5 last night, but there were a few other Vol groups as well mixed into the crowd.

To be honest, the crowd was not hostile in the least...mainly families with their current students (UT or UGA) as well as a large table or two who looked like they were coming from a formal or something. This place was out west of the mall, far removed from downtown and its craziness. But yeah...had the occasion called for it, we could have more than held our own!
