This is not your grandfather's or for that matter your father's Big Ten Conference---gone are the days of coaching legends Bo Schembechler, Woody "Right Hook" Hayes, and Hayden Frye---OSU awaits the NCAA's final word. PSU and College Football's All-Time winning-est HC under investigation.

Meyer, former Cincinnati player and member of the Buckeye coaching staff, has strong ties within the state.

If the rumor is true, Midwest recruiting and quite possibly the (recruiting) class of 2012 is about to be turned on it's head. Big Ten newcomers Brady Hoke, Jerry Kill, Bo Pelini, and Kevin Wilson are shaking their heads in disbelief, thinking what next???

Next bombshell to drop will be the Irish joining

They might as well, idk why they keep holding on to that independent BS. They can make way more money from the Big10 network than NBC. Plus it would help there recruiting IMO. They should had made this move a long time ago.

Please Irish aren't going anywhere near that conference, as much as the big 10 are fawning over them

...and It was pretty much slipped out (maybe intentionally) that they'd rather put their non-football sports in the ACC if they have to move to another conference

Why do you think they wouldn't?

B1G still has some legit clean programs in teams like Purdue, Northwestern and MAYBE Nebraska

The big 10 won't let them keep their independent football status, tv deal, and the benefits theyve garnered to go with it (and they'd have to sacrifice non-big 10 rivals)

Theyve suggested theyd prefer the ACC, likely since the conference would allow them to house their other sports while allowing them to remain independent.

Their independence is all about their football program. I don't have the numbers, but I think that the feeling is that, even with a NYC and (more of) Chicago claimed as big 10 regional (dollar a house), a 13-14 way split doesn't garner enough to be an overly significant jump, especially if it means sacrificing their ability to schedule rival opponents from 3 conferences, having their own national network recognition, and having their own special set of BCS stipulations (since it's, again, about their football team; if notre dame finishes ranked 12th in the BCS they at least qualify for being considered by a BCS bowl; they finish 8th or higher in the standings they receive an automatic bid)

They won't leave housing their other teams in the big east, also, unless it's felt on their part that the big east is about to literally fold as a conference

Again though, ND doesn't want to go there...like at all, with the stipulations the big 10 has been standing by

This is why ND will remain an independent. IMO.

Yeah.

The only reason they'd have to make a move is if the big east collapsed and they had to harbor their other sports in a new conference

The big 10 is not going to give them an option for the kind of setup they want; they'd try to force ND to be full time members in all sports (probably to put the BTN into NYC and more in chicago&indianapolis).

ACC would allow otherwise

UM to OSU is a done deal. Procedural (IMO). How many believe that it is not??
Sports Analysts already begun debating the effect this will have on recruiting.
Care to speculate on who becomes his OC and DC?
