Every season Miss State openly dodges playing any top tier out-of-conference teams and they are NEVER prepared for the SEC.

Why do fans even show up for these games and why does every MSU coach do this?

Portland, Grambling, Purdue, Samford, Rhode Island St. Jo. and Central Arkansas. All at home before playing LSU, @ Kentucky at @ Arkansas starting next week. The coach will have no idea what this team is capable of before next week. ZIP!

At least Ole Siss played Memphis and @ FIU and Kentucky played Coastal Carolina and K-State.

South Carolina is scheduled to play a whopping 15-games outside the Carolinas (All conference games) as is their normal habit.

SEC baseball is as, if not more brutal than SEC football from a competitive standpoint. Just crazy...

Two nice wins against Alcorn State are a big help for UT going into conference play, a sweep would be huge.

Florida falling apart pleases me to no end, let the good times roll on that end.

Mississippi State is impressive, but haven't played anyone really relevant, so they may well be a paper bull puppy when it comes conference time. Here's hoping.

Definitely keeping my eye on Vanderbilt. I know they had strong ratings before the season, and are 2nd in the nation, which considering their normal level of suckitude is impressive to say the least. I figured after the way the finished strong last season, and with no major player losses they would do better, but after watching them climb to 15-1 and beating the #15 Oregon Ducks on the road in Oregon, I hate to say it, but it looks like they're legit right now.

How sweat the idea of pulling an upset on them:the_finger:

I agree we need a confidence boost with a sweep BUT Alcorn State is the worst D1 team I have ever seen.

*Georgia and Florida are stumbling
*Miss. State is now having problems with their cream puff schedule.
*Auburn is taking on all comers from throughout the spectrum
* Mizzou sucks

#2 Vanderbilt 5
#11 Oregon 7

Oregon salvages final game. Vandy opens SEC play @ Auburn next week

Washington 5
#3 LSU 7

Tigers sweep. Open @ Miss State next week in rivalry series

Central Arkansas 7
#6 Mississippi State 3

Central wins rubber match. will the Bulldogs soft pre-conf schedule be fool's gold again when they host LSU

Rider 0
#8 South Carolina 1

Sweep. Cocks finally leave state to go to Mizzou next week.

Michigan State 1
#10 Kentucky 3

UK wins 2-1. Wildcats go to Gainesville next week

Texas A&M 6
#13 CS Fullerton 7

Titans take Rubber match. aTm hosts Georgia next week for SEC premier series.

Lipscomb 8
#15 Mississippi 9

Weebles sweep. Go to Arkansas next week.

Alabama 7
#20 Louisville 8 (10)

Cardinals Sweep stumping any momentum the Tide may have when Vols come to town next week.

Alcorn State 4
Tennessee 12

Vols sweep. Vols host WKU for 2 midweek games and will likely be at or above .500 to start SEC play.

Brown 3
Auburn 6

Sweep. Auburn is not really playing Brown University but are in fact playing the color brown. Auburn goes to Vandy next week after midweek trip to Kennesaw. Auburn is 11-3 but have really lost to any team that has a pulse this season including Kennesaw once already.

Indiana 7
Florida 4

Hoosiers win rubber game. Florida at 8-9 and hosts UK next week after 1-game against FSU.

Liberty 11
Georgia 8

Flames salvage final game. UGA going to aTM next week. They are 7-7 with some UGLY losses with in and out of state opponents.

San Francisco
Missouri Cancelled

Series tied 1-1. Tigers are worst team in conference at 3-7 with 4-cancelled games now. Memphis crushed 'em and Gamecocks are coming next week. Going to be a long year.

The Gators lose 2 of 3 to the Hoosiers losing 7-4.
Liberty prevents being swept beating the UG Dawgs 11-4.
The Auburn Tigers beat Brown 6-3.
The Crimson Tide lose to the Louisville Cardinals 8-7.

The Gators are playing the bigshot number 5 FS Seminoles
on Tuesday.
The Gators are rebuilding, and don't at all resemble at all the bigshot team that has been to the College World Series.
For the first time in a long time the Vols have a chance to win the series from the Gators.

For the Auburn Tigers, and the other teams with excellent records in the SEC they have played lesser competition.

I'm not saying all are a illusion, and will be crap when they play division games, and non division games vs non cupcake teams but I think Auburn Tigers could get exposed when they play they division games, and maybe several other teams.

With the talent base in Florida, the Gators should NEVER be 8-9 after losing series and games to Indiana, Florida Gulf Coast and Georgia Southern. There's an underlying issue and I wonder if the same as it has been before, helicopter parents and the most viral form of this disease, privileged travel team parents destroying the team from behind the scenes. Just speculation, but it has happened in Gainesville before with Hall of Fame quality National Championship winning coaches.

It appears Miss. State got more than they bargained for with Central Arkansas.

CAU is 14-2 and their Sunday starter who beat the Bulldogs had already thrown a complete-game no hitter in a prior start.

The Bears' only 2 losses have come against Vanderbilt and 1 game against Miss. State but they have swept Murray State and beaten Jackson State twice, Kansas, Miss Valley State, New Orleans twice, Wichita State and Grambling

I would say this can be argued for many sports. In Men's Tennis 7 of the Top 25 are SEC teams. 5 of those being in the Top 10.

Or maybe the pressure of having to be a bigshot in the SEC, and return to the CWS is to much for a rebuilding team. 2 years ago they came close to winning a World Series Title, 1 year ago pathetic ending getting eliminated including unable to take advantage in a bad situation vs Kent State.
Does it get worse this year I think it could. No Zunino anymore makes it favorable to produce stolen bases.
They could start to win division games but I won't be surprised if they were to finish the first 4 or 5 weeks of division games losing 4 of the first 5 series, or 3 of the first 5 series.

They lost major hitters including Mike Zunino so not a surprise they are unimpressive, and a team trying to keep their head above water.
Talent is not enough you have times when a team underachieves.
