which is better, the Big XII or the SEC?
Interesting debate this year, and 1/2 way thru the season, i'm going to give the nod ot the Big 12.
what they have this year is what the SEC has most every year......quality depth.
between TX, OK, OK St, Mizzou, KS, TT.......they're a pretty deep league this year.
throw in that they have 3 bonafied Heisman qb candidates in Daniel, McCoy and Bradford, and a bevy of offensive play makers, it's going to be hard to argue against them.
i think this year, the SEC is still #2, but as good as the defenses have been, the offenses are down right enemic. Auburn and TN have two good defenses but can't score jack, and are just plain bad. Florida's defense is improving, but isn't what i'd call dominant. LSU's strong on defense as usual, but proved Saturday night they're not ready for prime time. Georgia has issues, and isn't dominant on either side of the ball. Alabama is the best all around team i've seen in the SEC, and they've been teh most consistent. Vandy adds depth, but goes and loses to MSU, which at this point is a team they should probably beat.
anyway, i like to think i call these kinds of things like i see 'em, and what i can say with some confidence is that it's very unlikely you will see two SEC teams hook up in a game like the one you saw in Dallas on Saturday. That was a game that featured two very good teams. I think the only opporutnity that presents itself for hte SEC is if FLorida and Alabama hook up in the title game in December.
til then, the Big 12, imo, is top dog this season.
