1) join the big east in a "Big E" conference (big East + big Eight = big E... Can't you see)... Play your regular season schedule regionally, with one rotating cross-divisional matchup. The revenue from the conference championship game should offset the lost income when the conference can't get 2 BCS teams.

Big East will have 9 when TCU joins, and Big "12" will have 9 when TAMU leaves. They could join forces for a title game like you say, but they wouldn't even need the cross-divisional game.

The roadblock would probably be the loss of a BCS auto-bid. They'd collectively get 1 bid instead of 2.

The fact it isn't a bad idea means that it won't get picked up.

Rumor has it that Oklahoma will remain in the Big 12 and they will add a 10th team.

Who says they have to add all 9 teams? There could just be 7 more added with TCU. The other two teams left out in the cold will just have to kick rocks.

Mark Cuban actually suggested something similar to this (with the Mountain West and Big East, I believe). Kind of like a bracket-busters, play-in game. It got shot down because it made too much sense.

Not sure how the Big 12 members feel about traveling to Boisie, but that is another school that it makes sense to invite. As long as Texas and Okie are in there with a smattering of halfway decent programs and some also rans they will keep their automatic BCS bid.

I don't know how dry the ink is on TCU's deal with the Big East, but it seems to me that the Big 12 could shore up their conference by letting A&M go and adding TCU, BYU and Boisie State. If that happens and West VA moves to the SEC, the Big East will lose it's automatic BCS bid.

Exactly. I bet TCU wishes they had waited another year before fleeing the Mountain West like it was on fire. They'd probably join the Big XII in a heartbeat if they had assurances Texas and Oklahoma were staying.

It would balance itself out if Missouri and West Virginia joined the SEC.

That would be a sweet conference to be in. Like 4 good teams and the rest trash.

The main reason Baylor is threatening the lawsuit is due to the fear that the big 12 will dissolve. If they had confirmation from a school that would replace A&M, they'd back off I bet.
