Am I wrong for thinking that the UT-Memphis game was the more important matchup for us to win? I certainly don't like losing in the last football game of the season, but the long-term impact of a meaningless bowl against a superior opponent seems minimal. OTOH, beating our in-state rival on the road may help us recruit from the hoops-happy end of the state and starts the New Year off on a good foot.

Correct KD. As painful as it is to lose, the practices before last night's game were exponentially more important than the outcome of the game itself. It was the Peach Bowl for goodness sake.

The V-Tech game was incredibly painful to lose, especially because of losing EB, Crompton, Hardesty, etc. but it was important that we won the Memphis game because of the rough start we've had outside of TBA (losses to Purdue in the Virgin Islands and USC in California).

I think the Memphis game was a big win for us, we finally played hard, we did not great but atleast we played hard. If Scotty Hopson can step his game up this team is going to be pretty good, but as long as we are ice cold from 3 point range we are going to be a very average team.

Im hoping this memphis game will give UT some confidence and an identity. They cannot afford to look past a pesty charlotte squad, so they need to take care of business and then the Kansas game will show us where we belong. If we can be competitive I think this team has a shot at the SEC title, but if we get blown out of our own gym, well....we are back in the same boat we were in b4 Memphis.

I think the Memphis game gives us some much needed confidence before conference play begins. Going to a bowl game is always nice, but this one didn't mean anything. Here's hoping yesterday's hoops win will help us get focused on our remaining schedule, and maybe even give our boys a glimmer of hope against a great Kansas team.
