KESN-FM in Dallas had Bill on last night. The Cowboys suffered that terrible loss on Sunday, and it's an old trick to bring a beloved ex-player in the next day to keep irate fans minds occupied elsewhere.

Anyway, Bates spoke for a long time about how blessed he has been. He recounted his days at Farragut and what a great high school coach he had.

He talked about his dream coming true when he got to play for the Vols, and what a wonderful experience that was. He talked about how much he loves the program, and what a thrill it is to see his son Dillon set to attend his alma mater.

He says Dillon is blessed with more natural ability than he could have hoped for. I believe if Dillon has anywhere near the heart of his daddy, mixed with his size and speed, we could have an All American type player wearing Orange.

Anyway, just wanted y'all to hear a little bit about what I heard on the radio last night here in D.

I think it's fair to speak for everyone when I say that I hope some of these recruits that are so fired up about being a Vol right now stick around for 4 years. It'll be interesting to see how and if mentalities change as time passes and NFL agents begin sticking their grimy hands in the doors.

You mean he wasn't angry at Vol fans for not giving enough votes for Dillon to win that ultimate athlete contest??

It's great to hear former Vols talk about their college playing days... Looking forward to seeing Dillon out there for the Vols too.

That's the great thing about these legacy players. They come from families that have (mostly) hit it big at the pro level, and are likely to be financially stable.

Tiny's family needed him to go hit it big. Bates and the Twins, for example, come from families that do not "need" that. They may still leave early, but the temptation will be for alternate reasons.

I don't mean this as a knock to Dillon, but we would be extremely lucky for him to have the heart of his Dad, very few people do... That being said, Dillon is one of my favorites in this class, I hope someday he looks upon Tennessee as fondly as his Dad does.

Liked the shout out to FHS, my old HS.

No, pretty sure it's 103.3 - Galloway and Co show. I just moved here, what is Ticket P1?

KTCK 1310 AM...96.7 FM?...#1 in ratings...lots of humor mixed in...super serious sports listeners complain about that...P1 is the term for their diehard listeners

Thanks for the info. What a humble guy. He was pretty good himself. Dillon will represent also.
GO VOLS!

Good stuff indeed.

The kid gets off blocks well, play good pass coverage, and wraps up well. If he can put on a little lbs. he may be a 3 and done. Not trying to put the cart b4 the horse, jmo.

I wish he would come back to coach special teams
