Bill Snyder is F'in Amazing!

As if it weren't obvious enough by watching Kansas State play this year, it's even more incredible when you take a look at the guys he's playing with. On paper, Kansas State should be the worst team in the Big 12. In reality, they look like the best team.

To give some perspective on how dismal K State's recruiting classes have been, take a look at these Scout rankings of their past four classes:

2009: #112, Last in Big 12
2010: #99, Last in Big 12
2011: #61, 9/10 in Big 12
2012: #85, 9/10 in Big 12

There are about 120 teams in FBS, btw, to give you some perspective as to how bad 112th is. Eastern Michigan, Memphis, MTSU, and Florida International outrecruited K State in 2009. K State only wishes it had the same type of talent at Vanderbilt.

Talent is and always will be important in college football, but good coaching is even more important. Great coaches can win with average talent, and poor coaches can lose with great talent.

Bill Snyder shows why coaching is so critical in college football.

I was so astonished by this stat that I decided to check it against the Rivals ratings. They're slightly different, but still reflect decidedly bad recruiting rankings.

Let's not forget that no matter what you think of the Big 12, Kansas State just demolished a fairly impressive West Virginia team AT Morgantown, beat a very talented Oklahoma team in Norman, and they have beaten Texas the last two years.

2009: #92
2010: #63
2011: #68
2012: #58
2013: #87 currently, 10/10 Big 12

That is why Chris Petersen is brilliant too.

I love Snyder. Always have. Usually coaching comebacks flop, but this one has been incredible.

Looks pretty brainy that he bought his way out of legitimate preseason games, including against Oregon this year.
