He states the obvious. I'll get blasted for this, but it really should be about making these student-athletes "Champions of Life". But at the major programs, the system doesn't allow for that. Its more "athlete-student." The conferences and schools answer to ESPN for the $$$. Look at the ACC going back to Thursday games. We should just go-ahead and start paying the players "above the table". This is the universe where someone like Art Briles is being "considered" as a possible HBC candidate.

Snyder is institution there, his name is on the stadium, so he can afford to make it more about the student than the athlete. Same reason why Cutcliff probably retires a Duke. But big time program, a couple 7-5 and 8-4s gets you canned. That's the risk the coach accepts in exchange for getting overpaid. That's the problem I have with not giving a stipend to the guys.

The system has been out of control for decades. It is not really /college/ football: the major programs are minor-league pro franchises in everything but name, with athlete/students (exactly) on the field, not student-athletes. It's all about big money. I have long been against paying players but beginning to change my opinion. Too many games now, too many hours spent on athletics as opposed to academics--and I say this as a former Vol letterman. It's all more than a bit absurd--but that's sports in America. We're an entertainment nation.

A friend from Ghana told me that the US is backwards - 'We pay for feet, not for the head". We pay our entertainment absorbament amounts of money, while our teachers, doctors, engineers, etc are not paid. What is the value of Whoopi Goldberg, Miley Cyrus, Colin kaepernick compared to your surgeon, local police officers, etc. Heck, a football game is a $200 outing.

I wouldn't mind seeing Miley Cyrus get hit by Derek Barnett with a full head of steam in the backfield.

No telling what diseases he might come back with though.

We must be entertaining. Brain surgery or Geometry class is not that exiting to watch.

What's the gdp of Ghana again? I get the point, but when you can't figure out how to get your economy rolling, it's best not to tell others how it's supposed to be. Just my opinion.

Maybe if we thought like people from ghana we'd be as wealthy as them.

You really think Kaep is good enough to start again? I dont know. Dude is a terrible QB.

Dude's QBR is exactly league average. Better than Cam Newton, rn. His contract is too big, but somebody will be willing to pay him an average salary.
