I know he's not a Vol but there's a good chance he won't walk again after the hit on a kickoff return...

I remember in highschool having to watch a video titled "Play Heads Up Football" cause if you hit someone with your head down your spinal column is lined up and could then easily be crushed. You can think of it like stepping on an empty Coke can..

Anyway...this guy will be in my prayers and if you are religious please do the same

Good news: He's got some mobility in his legs now that his sedation has been lowered. His prognosis is much improved. Doctors predict he will walk again.

They induced hypothermia within 15 minutes to reduce to amount of damage to the spinal cord. This is an experimental procedure done in Miami. Its funny, the guy who came up with this procedure said that this new procedure and faith are what has helped this guy.

I definately believe that.

I definately believe that.

The fact that the physician was quick thinking enough to utilize the experimental procedure most likely saved his ability to walk.

It is absolutely amazing to me that within 15 minutes of the hit they had lowered his body temperature enough to minimize the swelling and damage associated with it enough to have possibly avoided paralysis!

Faith and Medicine - they are a strong team!

This is such great news!!! I don't know why but this has upset me from the beginning and I'm so happy now that he will walk again. Faith and brilliant doctors....it's a hell of a combination!!

It be great if somehow that became standard procedure for any type of spinal cord or neck injury!

I read the reason it was so successful is because the Dr was on site. While still a great treatment, not many of us have that luxury. Still gives hope for future advances.
