Isn't Birmingham already in $3,000,000,000+ debt, and on the verge of the first public sector bankruptcy in 20 years?

funny,
linking getting the Davis cup opening round to what Bham can get.

the dome will not be UAB homefield.
the dome is not to get a pro team.

not just a domed stadium.....looking for convention and downtown expansion.

no plans in works to go after sec championship game.

sewer system is what is looking at bankruptcy.

don't let the facts get in the way of anything guys.

FYI...IT IS SO STUPID THAT THEY ARE TRYING TO BUILD THIS

$500 million dome? LOL!!!! Birmingham's broke, near bankruptcy, the mayor got arrested last week for bribery by the feds----they aren't building any half billion dollar domes anytime soon! They can't even afford to upgrade that dumpy stadium in town.

If the IOC will give the Games to a festering sewer like Atlanta, why shouldn't Birmingham give it a shot?

At least in Atlanta you can go to CokeWorld and try some coke from around the world Then if you're thirsty, CocaCola has a great tour with free beverages at the end.

Atlanta didn't really have the infrastructure to handle the games and Birmingham is what, 1/4th the size?

And yes, I know the comment was sarcasm.

A few details to things up.

Jefferson County (where Bham resides) is the municipality that may go belly up due to crazy financing of a boondoggle sewer system. Bham however is not facing bankruptcy.

The current mayor of Bham (Larry Langford) was County Commissioner during the above mentioned fiasco and is currently under federal indictment for directing financing/refinancing business to a firm that kicked back $ and merchandise to him.

Langford is a nutjob that has crazy visions (2020 Olympics) and has financially ruined everything he's touched.

Langford is a huge proponent of the Dome - that should tell anyone everything they need to know about it's viability!

I assume you have a consulting contract with the city helping them market themselves as host of the olympics.

I dont ever see this stadium being built. I mean why??

You Vol fans are so ignorant to the ways of the world. Birmingham wants to the Dome for the following:

1. Krunkfest sponsored by Alize.
2. World Championship Tractor Pull.
3. Dental Convention w/ Free services.
4. A place to house Nick Saban's ego.
5. A place to house Charles Barkley's ignorance.
6. Bama Bangs convention.
