Hey Volnation, in December, my wife
will be celebrating her 29th birthday for the 21st time :). I know some people take this particular birthday pretty hard, and I was wondering what other guys have done for their wives that helped take the sting out of it.

Ladies, what did you do? Or what do you wish you had done? Did you play down the significance prior to, then wish you hadn't?

Birthdays, for me, have always been just another day on the calendar. My wife has admitted to me, 5 years after the fact, that she took her 11th 29th :) birthday pretty hard. She sure didn't show it at the time, though.

Now, we tease each other about age all the time, and I have ribbed her about this impending birthday for two years. Kind of a psychological dealeyo to ensure it doesn't hit her all at once.

Look forward to your ideas, puns, stories, etc...

TIA

Some stores, like halloween stores, sell RIP fake gravestones, or rent them. You can put bunches of them in the yard so when she gets home from work she will see them. Then take her out for a gourmet dinner.

Now on my list. Thanks!

Make her still feel beautiful and loved. Like she's the only girl that gets you going. That'll help with the age change that day!

My husband is taking me to Las Vegas to celebrate mine next year. Actually, I guess I'm taking him. My high school class is having a 50th B-Day party out there next summer. :)

That's awesome, volly! I've been to Vegas thrice, but have never gotten the wife there, other than the drive thru on our way to Alaska.

Buy her a cake. Then eat it in front of her and tell her she shouldn't have any. "A second on the lips equals a lifetime on the hips".

You're welcome.

Retake some of her most favorite photos over your time together. For example, Retake the ones of the kids together by wearing similar clothes, same scene, same actions & expression. Your lovely bride will fondly focus on their aging which will lessen the sting of her milestone.

As of now, our oldest is in the USAF and stationed in Korea. I have contacted him and he has agreed to have a professional picture taken of himself in Dress Blues and have it professionally framed. Our youngest and his wife will do the same, locally.

And, although I detest my picture being taken, I too shall have a pro pic done.

For the meal, I am researching the possibility of having a personal chef come to the house, or a caterer for small gathering, or maybe a limo to a Knoxville Resturaunt (is MD's parking lot big enough to accommodate a limo? Haha).

I have 47 days to make this happen. Thank you all for your input.

Edit: Her '14 Sorento will have to suffice as an Escalade until someone wins the lottery up in here. :) I'm looking at you Kat! Haha

those are great ideas...good luck
I'd take her to her favorite restaurant,

Although the personal chef, sounds interesting, but how's that work, can you set the menu, or do you let the Chef decide....
