Pretty much... and as I remember it, not just didn't make him the starter, but wouldn't even give him the time of day.

And BJ's one start against Vandy totaling 4-for-8 for 21 yards and a pick give you enough hope to entertain the idea that he would have been any better than Simms?

He ended up where he belonged. Luckily he got a practice squad check for a year. He chose not to stay here. That was one of the rare times that I really showed no remorse about a player's exit.

Considering all of the players who ending up not being a good fit at UT and transferring, I'm kind of surprised about the acrimony over it. Basically, he just wanted to play and left to do that. Somehow everyone got upset and made it more important than it was.

because the others generally either showed that they could add value and left or we never even saw them and they left

we saw him, we saw that he didn't add value, and we heard him spout off about not getting handed the job by Kiffin

I'll say this for Matt Simms, he lasted longer in the NFL than Coleman did.

I remember meeting him at a UTC party when I was a sophomore in high school big ole country boy,but my brother went there for a while and I remember asking him why he transferred he simply said he just wanted to be a starter and that lane kiffin lied to him saying he wouldnt leave..dude almost broke my hand when he shook it lol

I don't remember him. I do, however, remember CJ Boleman.

Simms didn't arrive until 2010. Coleman didn't beat out Crompton so he left before the 2009 season started.
